This review is for the one at Costilla St.
First impression: The place is a lot smaller than expected. Seats about 12 people (don't know the exact count). No rest room (at least I didn't see one), limited parking, and busy. One of those places where it looks bad appearance wise, so you know the redeeming factor is the food has to be good. Surprisingly clean contrary to preconceived notions.
Server was great. I never caught her name, but took care of me promptly. I was out of her sight, but she managed to remember the back row bunch and ensured our drinks were always full and appropriately made sure we had everything we required.
The place is known for its breakfast burrito, so I had the burrito with bacon and half green chile and half gravy. First bite was overwhelming, I didn't expect it to have so much crispy bacon. Which is a great thing. The green chile was perfect too. The gravy while good, wouldn't be my first choice. Next time I will get only green chile for the burrito. The portion size was generous. They also offer smaller sizes, but why would you do that? Food is great, its not too greasy or too bland. I don't know if its high quality, gmo free, gluten free etc. But I don't really care if its delicious. And delicious is what it is.
You get a sticker and candy for eating all your food.
Bottom line: Great service and food. Limited seating and parking. You will probably wait outside in your car.
King Chef Diner is my go-to food location when I'm in Colorado Springs. The food is high quality and perfectly prepared. I love that you can order half servings of items also. The coffee is super delicious. It's a cash only restaurant, but they have an ATM on sight.
Good breakfast and fast service for a busy place! I usually get the biscuits and gravy wherever I go, and they did a pretty good job! King chefs is good!
The Breakfast Burrito & The Grump are the bomb!! It's the only Breakfast place in the Springs I've been to where the the temperature of the food is as hot on the last bite as it was on the first. I love it!
Try the Burrito. The only reason I go to King Chef is their Breakfast Burrito. You can order it covered in Gravy or there house made Green Chili Sauce, I get mine Half and Half. I have never had a bad experience and have received top notch service every time. If you sit at the bar and watch the kitchen you can watch how hard they work to bring you an amazing meal. There is literally a guy with a potato and a cheese grader knocking out hash browns like it came out of a 10 pound pre made bag. I am new to the springs and have already found one of my go to breakfast places... You won’t be disappointed.
Oh and be sure to bring cash!
My girlfriend and I come here everyone we're in Colorado Springs. Their breakfast burrito can't be beat. Service is exceptional. Only complaint is that it is cash only. It can be very inconvenient.

Awesome "we've been drinking and need food" place. King's Chef is basically a Punk Rock version of Denny's. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is fun and funky, food is delicious but SO greasy... you'll be fighting over who gets to use the bathroom first when you get home :)
Green Chili, on everything.. Not bad, cute looking diner at tentative service good coffee and Chili that can cure Cancer! Well maybe it didn't cure my husbands throat cancer but he actually could taste this through chemo (which was amazing considering he could taste nothing else) we went to the one by Penrose hospital. It wasn't very busy but it was weekday and it had some great french toast, and some crazy hot green chili on amazing potatoes. Eggs were good and I'd love to try more of there menu.
If you want to take a trip back to a simpler time when food was hearty and plentiful. The service caring and thoughtful. The overall vibe being welcoming and inclusive with great music. This is your spot!
Without question this diner has the best breakfast in the Springs. Some of the best burgers in the Springs. The waitress is super nice, and actually custom makes each cup of sweet tea to my preferred level of sweetness, Alabama southern style (she makes a quick simple syrup and adds it to unsweet tea, the result is incredible.)
You owe it to yourself to come here at least once. The portions are massive, the prices are reasonable. Don't let the wacky castle building deter you, go on in, grab a seat, and enjoy.
Cheyenne & Cassandra far exceeded our customer service expectations with their welcoming friendly spirit amongst a very busy morning. Local flair and flavor that has been a mainstay mainstream eclectic location in the Springs for many years. Glad to have them back and gearing back up serving the best breakfast in town!
I've always driven by but never had the chance to eat here until today and I'm so happy I finally did as I will be back! Don't let the small space scare you away. Exceptional service with fast food that allows you to eat on the go or enjoy your meal there. I had the green chili burger that had good taste and a good spicy kick! Add a half order of fries on the side for a complete meal! Yummy!
I have ordered a green chili burger at other places and they do not compare to this place! Best green chili burger in town!
This was such a cute little hole in the wall. Very good food and great service. You also get to watch the cook, cook the food. Its pretty cool 😎

Stumbled upon this place and it was incredible! Got the mini burrito and it was PLENTY. The salsa Verde was flavorful and a little spicy (but not too bad) and the gravy was yummy. Highly recommend this place, the staff was cool, and the prices were 👌)
Don't be turned away by the small size of the building, as this restaurant has HUGE taste.
I went with the famous Breakfast Burrito and was not disappointed at all. I went with the green chile on top (people who don't like spicy beware) but there is also a country style gravy option. Paired with a delicious cup of coffee and good company, this place is a 10/10.
I will come back whenever I am in town.
Awesome place, portions are huge. Bring your appetite, and highly suggest the 1/2 gravy (half green half white) on any dish
Every aspect of this restaurant experience was great! It is a very pandemic friendly environment, with tons of outdoor sitting and pickup options. I ordered a half sized "Grump." It was more than enough food for me.
They give a great amount of food for the price, and it is very good. I had to stop myself from eating after I was full because it was so good!
