The chicken and waffles that I had were alright, but the mashed potatoes and collared greens were to die for. I'm picky about my greens, and Angie's were perfect.
I had never been here until now. I heard of it many times, but I do not come to the area much. When I was at Zanzibar on Shaker Square I heard someone say that they were affiliated, so I enjoyed Zanzibar, so I felt I should try this place out also. When I seen the building it was located in I asked myself what did I get myself into, but upon entering I was pleasantly surprised by the decor. It was very modern and clean and I liked the set up. We tried a lot of items, but I strongly recommend the catfish, tilapia, smothered pork chops, short ribs, Mac & cheese, yams & greens. The sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, and apple cobbler was also very good. I see where Zanzibar got it's soul. I will be back
EXCELLENT FOOD!!!!!!!!. The food was great . The service was okay. A couple of bones to pick. We sat down for our lunch. We only got two forks and they were wrapped in one napkin. My daughter had to ask for spoons for our excellent peach cobbler. A full set of utensils for each diner would be only normal. The cobbler was placed in a throw away container and we would have perferred regular dishes.Ohter wise it was good . We sat and talked for a while with out feeling rushed. hats off for that. And water should be offered and hot beverages.
Too Darn Good..... I live in Cleveland and I swear, this place has NEVER disappointed!!! When I don't want to cook, but want to eat like I 'got a plate from my mothers house', I go to Angies. OMG, if you know good soul food, you'll be very satisfied. If you don't, welcome! I'm so happy for you!!! LOL!!
Love the Food.... Excellent!. The food was great! Although, my server could brush up on her customer service skills just a bit. My server was the tall sista, with the twisties hairstyle. But I'll leave that one alone for now. Maybe she was just having a bad day, as we all are entitle to have one of those types of days once in a while.
Anyway.... back to the food: the taste was great and the portion size was a good value for the price. I selected the Smothered Chicken, with Macaroni and Cheese, and Candied Yams as side dishes. What more can I say.... EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!
I'm looking forward to visiting again soon. I have a feeling this restaurant is about to become an addiction for me. LOL.
I'm originally from Columbus but currently live in Texas. I went home to visit, and my aunt and I decided to go to Cleveland. Angie's was recommended by a family member who lived in Cleveland.
I got the meatloaf, greens, and sweet potatoes. My aunt got the salmon croquettes, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Overall, the food was good. I took 1 star off because her croquettes were a little overcooked. We just assumed they didn't get orders placed often for that item.
We also got the drinks in the jar. I took mine home and added vodka!
Visiting Cleveland. Looking for good food around and I found this restaurant. Yuuuummmm....Flavors we're dancing in my mouth! I've ordered the smothered pork chops with collard greens and candied yams. Perfect combo. Love the food. I didn't even need a knife for my pork chop. So tender.
I love your cornbread it’s so good. Y’all should probably look up different recipes Cleveland is about to change over the next few years with the new weed laws. Old establishment like Angie’s need to get with the times and have creative items. I love your food and hope you look to improve it.
Visiting from out of town for work, and saw a sign for soul food, say less! The catfish was amazing! Excuse my picture of my partially eaten food, but I had already eaten a whole filet before I thought to take a picture. The food is fresh, hot, and well seasoned! The Mac n cheese was mouthwatering. So glad I decided to stop and try it. If I ever return to Cleveland, I will definitely be back.
I am visiting from Cincinnati Ohio and heard about this place. Came to the restaurant and was greeted by the most caring wait staff. I did not sign in but there was a lot of traffic there which was a great indicator that the food was really good. Everything was presented well and the food was really good the only drawback I would say is that the greens have more stems in them that I would have liked but that's the way that I like them. There was a gentleman outside homeless who I went to purchase a meal for, the person said we all need a blessing gave me the box to give to him so I passed forward the amount of the box and tips to them. That's what I call paying it forward! Would recommend this place to anyone and when I stop through again I'll be sure to come back.
Great food. Warm environment. Parking lot is brutal, but any experienced Clevelander can navigate pot holes. Food stayed warm and was delectable when I got home. Chicken was juicy and crispy all in the same bite. Definitely a Must for anyone looking for great local food
I had to drive over 20 miles from my hotel and it's definitely worth the trip. I had the smothered pork chop meal with a desert and it's was off the chain good. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who want great food with adequate portion sizes.
Truly excellent soul food. I went out of my way to try Angie's and was not disappointed. The staff is friendly and makes everything fresh, from scratch. Catfish was crisp, smothered chicken was tender. Sides were also very good: sweet yams were excellent, black eyed peas were perfectly cooked. I snagged the last peice of sweet potato pie, and it was among the best I have ever had.
This is a family run small business that somehow survived the pandemic. But after tasting their food, I am not really surprised. Definitely worth a try!

Hubby and I tried 2 different dishes (chicken and salmon) along with greens, dressing, mac, potato salad and yams. It was well seasoned but not overseasoned.
The employees were full of laughter and love. We will definitely be back when in Cleveland!!

It was a wonderful experience to visit a restaurant that specializes in down home Southern foods here. We did not know what to expect, but the staff was patient (as we tried to figure out what we wanted from the menu), helpful( offered recommendations and a small sample of an item), entertaining(they were funny and very engaging) and part of the reason to visit again.
The original owner is a Southern woman from SC.
The place had a constant stream of customers. There was plenty of room for social distancing. Everyone did carryout.
The restaurant is no cash transactions.
