Awesome neighborhood spot with local regulars, hand-made signs, daily specials and great service. The cheese steak was melt-in-my-mouth cheesy delicious, best I ever had. His club sandwich was generous and fresh. The ladies behind the counter were warm, friendly and funny. We were traveling through but have promised to make this a tradition if/when we are back in downtown Cleveland.

I love coming here! The food is always very delicious and hot, the staff is super friendly, and the prices are always very reasonable. I am always constantly coming back here to eat.
This was my first visit and will not be my last. Walking into the diner, I was reminded of a retro cafe. The atmosphere was classic and very enjoyable. Chrissy, our waitress, was so friendly, fast, and efficient. Her service was excellent. Last, but definitely not least, the food! We visited breakfast time, and the food was served hot, exactly as we ordered it, and so good. I highly recommend the 49er as your classic food stop! Great place!
Good honestly cooking, surprise rye bread with caraway seeds...nice omelets served hot off the grill. Delicious coffee too.

This diner is the very essence of Cleveland. A steady stream of smiling customers who are the backbone of American industry. Located on top of the hill from John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company, this diner is a great breakfast spot and specializes in the homemade pierogi.
Great affordable pleasing. Don't expect to much so far as decor but the food is good.
