Awesome food! Our waiter Scott was an amazing salesman! He knew the menus and what to recommend. Only one downer! No alcohol in the mixed drinks, however that seems to be a Florida thing! So stick to beer or wine.
We travel to Clearwater once to twice a year and we always make it a point to stop at Frenchy’s The Original. Every time has been great and this time it was even better. We sat at the bar and for a Monday it was crazy packed. Sam, the bartender, was also our waitress, while it was crazy and there were so many people asking her things she always made it a point to talk to us and ask us about our stay. Food was amazing and service was even better! Thanks to Sam for handling a crazy restaurant and making your customers feel welcome and served very quickly!
Delicious!! The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is fun, but most of all the food is great. I recommend the fish tacos, buffalo grouper sandwich and the potato salad
Hostess said there was a 20 minute wait for the two of us on a busy Sunday night but it was only about 3 minutes. The server was okay and the food came out quickly. My husband had the stuffed grouper that he said was very, very good, I had a seafood entree ( I can't remember the name ) with scallops, shrimp, grouper and an amazing crab cake. I would go back just for the crab cakes. Overall I would return.
I was taken here, being told I'd have the best fried grouper sandwich of my life. Let me tell you...I can't even think about any other kind of seafood sandwich. I won't even entertain the idea of ever having a fried grouper sandwich anywhere else. It was steaming hot, fresh and delicious. I can't wait to go back soon and eat there again! The atmosphere is tight. You walk in and sign your name on a pad of paper and wait for it to be called. There's not much room in terms of waiting area but don't let that run you off..you have to stay. They seemed to be a little under staffed the day we were there because the servers were constantly running but that didn't bother me like it would have other places. The restaurant is quaint and old and the perfect little beach shack you where you can get the freshest seafood around!
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! If you want to see what old time Florida was about, go to this frenchy's. The fish is right off the boat, can't get any fresher! The stone crab celebration is my favorite time of year. Yes those little suckers are expensive (WHY?) but you cannot get a better meal anywhere. Their daily specials make everyone smile. This place is quaint, old time but clean, and the food is awesome!! If you like seafood, any kind of seafood, you will love frenchy's original. Make a point to stop here. You will not be disappointed!
Grouper Bits Basket is a NO. We went last night around 8:00. Busy and bustling. Good service. I asked which item I would get the most grouper on, and the server said the grouper bits basket. Next table had the grouper sandwich....more grouper. Also the grouper bits....some were absolutely perfect and others were overcooked and dry...they were all cooked the same time but were not the same size. W had the fried shrimp basket and she was thrilled with it.
Oh.....my charge card says "see driver's license" and I was not asked for ID.
Awesome food & Jennifer gave us Awesome Service!! My husband & I went on a Sunday evening & shared a dozen oysters & the Grouper Reuben & had a few Red Stripes! Both were very very good!! This is a place we will definitely go back to in our next trip to Clearwater!
A Texan's Review. We were just in Clearwater, FL last week and ate at Frenchy's based upon a local's recommendation. We ordered the Buffalo Shrimp as an appetizer and can honestly say, it was the best shrimp I've ever eaten! Then I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich. Again, best one I've ever eaten. My wife had the Grouper sandwich,...wow! the waitress was very friendly as well...a solid 10 Frenchy's!!
I had the crabby shrimp sandwich and it was amazing! My mom had the fish tacos and those were amazing as well! I am not a fan of tequila and margaritas but who ever made the margarita I had tonight was perfect! Loved this place, a MUST go!
