Visited for the first time on a snowy Mon. nite. Only one other couple, obviously regulars in the place. The place is very small, seats about 50, and the decor is dated, very dated. The menu is about what you might expect from a family friendly, longstanding Italian restaurant, over 100 years old but the quality of the meals is exceptional! Veal marsala was fork tender and smothered in sauteed mushrooms. Beef brachioli was melt in your mouth tender, topped with red sauce and melted cheese. Entrees are served with a side of pasta with amazingly delicious red sauce and a generous tossed salad. Homemade bread, sliced thick, with butter arrives with the salads. Portions are large and prices are reasonable...veal was $20. Both the cook and our waitress, Maryanne were very friendly and welcoming. Metered street parking readily available

This is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is all homemade and simply delicious! The Lasagna and Spaghetti with meatballs are especially good. The building is old and the atmosphere isn't the best, however the food, the prices and the down to earth good people who work here keeps us coming back again and again!
Pretty good Italian food. Stopped in on a busy Saturday night with a group of 12. Some of us are admittedly picky eaters, and the frustration showed initially on the waiter's face. But he powered through and was able to accommodate everyone in our party.
On the food, everyone was happy. We all received huge portions of delicious items. I've noticed complaints about the prices - I think they were fair for the quality and quantity. The only complaint was that there was a little meat in one of the items given to a vegetarian who ordered said item because no meat was mentioned on the menu.
Overall, very good experience. I like the obviously one-off interior. It was dark but clean. And by the end of the meal, the waiter was joking and seemed to "get" what was a difficult group to tend to. Thank you, sir.
Great food!. I was a little apprehensive about trying this place, especially after reading the negative reviews, but I am glad we went. If you are looking for a place with a 5 star restaurant service then go somewhere else. If you are looking for a place with good food, then come here. You will love the fresh, daily-made bread. Order the salad with the house dressing. We ordered the Manicotti and the Spaghetti with meatballs-- good portions! The sauce on the manicotti was a little thick, but the meat sauce on the spaghetti was perfect (I would probably order meat sauce next time). The meatballs were juicy. We ended our meal with a cannolli.

Much easier on the wallet.. Campenello's is a great alternative if you find yourself downtown in search of authentic Italian. I must still give the nod on several levels to Scotti's but it's price point can sometimes be a bit daunting. This is not fusion or high-end Italian. Campanello's is all about simple, well prepared, classic Italian dishes.
Like Scotti's, Campenello's suffers from "grumpy old man" syndrome and has a variety of idiosyncrasies (many of which have been mentioned by others). Well established places that cater primarily to regulars seem often to have questionable service. They have been doing it for so long that they have gotten very set in their ways. The regulars are used to it and are already well familiar with particular idiosyncrasies. Ask a lot of questions and you'll see what I mean. The response can come off as terse or rude to new patrons. So helpful tip and why I am not surprised by the mixed bag of reviews on this site. However, enjoy!
I'm a fan. It's very old school but I love it. The lasagna is my favorite...it's what I get every time. The staff is great as well...
I love. I tried Campanello's for the first time and loved it. From the fresh baked bread to the lasagna and even the homemade tiramisu.....everything was perfect! We were even served by the owner herself. She shared stories about the family restaurants history. I'm going to recommend Campanello's to all my friends.

Nice selection of Italian food, including spumoni. Good tasting and inexpensive lunch portions. I had the lasagna and it was good. The restaurant itself definitely has that old school look. Could benefit the restaurant to update the inside a bit, but it's not a deal breaker. Will try again.
We very much enjoyed our visit to Campanello's. The prices are very reasonable. I had the Chicken Masala, it was delicious. The team of Dustin and Mary Ann worked very hard for us, service was good, though it appeared they may need more servers. My wife and I love Mom and Pop cooking, quiet surroundings. The back room filled all of our needs. Campanello's is a place we will return to again.

Oh my, this was our first time there, but totally NOT the last. The atmosphere was lovely, the service impeccable, the staff friend and warm, and the food devine!!! It was in every way like having dinner with family and Mom wouldn't sit and eat herself because she was making sure everyone else was fed and happy.
As if that whole experience wasn't already perfect, the homemade Tiramisu for desert was heavenly!!!
We will so be back!!!
My buddy and I drove an hour from Lexington just to have dinner here. The husband and wife that own the restaurant treated us like family. I had the sampler and without question it was some of the most amazing Italian food I've ever eaten. So clean, light and flavorful.
The food is authentic and delicious!!! The atmosphere is not fancy but the friendliness of the owner, chef, and wait staff make up for the old decor. I've never had anything there that was less than scrumptious including the homemade bread! Be sure to save room for the cannoli....fantastic!!!
Do not let the appearance fool you. The food was fantastic. Went here with my father for lunch, we loved it. We got a little history about the place from the owner. The food is made from scratch. The prices were VERY reasonable, highly recommend.

My Fiance and I went there after the car show looking for a great meal. The smells coming from the restaurant enticed us to enter. Looking in the window it looks like the little family type restaurant that normally has genuine Italian food. We were not disappointed!!! Mary Ann and Nick welcomed us like family! The food was delicious and we cant wait to go back again!!
This is the epitome of the family run Italian restaurants that I remember in New York. Right down to the iceberg lettuce house salads and baskets of Italian bread. The lasagna is delicious and their red sauce is excellent. They have great specials also. My favorite is their sampler special with a large meatball, manicotti and lasagna. Good wine selection and very friendly staff.
This is a place for people who like hole-in-the-wall mom and pop shops. This is definitely mom and pop. It's family owned and you can tell they've been around a while. They're nice folk and the food is good and I always leave there feeling like I had better start my diet tomorrow. Snooty people should go to a place that spends money on decorations and charges a much higher price for the same or worse food, lest they be seen by someone from their own country club frequenting a non-corporate owned establishment. I would rather go here than olive garden any day of the week.
