Bad Ass. I've had some good food here in Chi-town. If you enjoy Asian cuisine this place is the smack. I basically picked it because it had more Asians than some of its neighboring restaurants, and I was the only non-asian in the place (this is a good sign with any ethnic cuisine). The hot pot is the way to go. Lamb, flounder, bock Choy, water cress, assorted dumplings, and the best spicy broth I've ever had (and I’m an Asian food junkie). I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. They lose .5 because the bathrooms leave a little to be desired. It's not fancy, but that is a plus when it comes to ethnic cuisine. Less money in the decor = more money in the product. I’m wrestling with whether to go back again for the second night in a row, or to try something new…..and I’m an avid foodie. That’s how good it is.
Loved the Hot Pot. The hot pot was amazing. My personal favorite ingredients we put in were the vegetable dumplings and the homemade noodles.
Hot pot is great. All you can eat. $16. Fresh food.
The servers are always running around really rushed, so it helps to bring someone outspoken with you. But then again, you didn’t come to a little hot pot spot for the service, did you? You came for the boiling broth, the tender lamb, and my favorite thing of all time, handmade noodles! I could sit here and eat those thick, doughy noodles all day.
The food was delicious and never stopped coming at Mandarin Kitchen. At the same time, although hot pot is a ton of fun, I'm not sure it puts out the highest flavoring in food.
