Best shiro in Chicago. Everything vegetarian is delicious (haven't tried the meat). Family owned, attentive and relaxed place. My favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the city. New dining room so plenty of space. Save room for desert - or stay until you make room. Seriously.
We really enjoyed our time and meal at Tesfa. They catered to our need for gluten free injera. They had games for us to play while we waited for our food. Reminded me of my time in Ethiopia. We will definitely go back! Shiro was the best!
Shared the family plate with three other people and the amount was perfect. Everything was so delicious and flavors were amazing. If you haven’t tried Ethiopian food this is a good chill place to start. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful. The injera is plentiful and you can always ask for more! Trust me everything is great - meat, chicken, vegetarian! Come with an open mind and definitely eat with your hands!
Would recommend making a reservation for dinner on weekend especially for larger groups.
Delicious, cozy spot for traditional Ethiopian food. Service was great, food was amazing. Fun music and videos playing in background gave the whole place a vibe. Can't wait to come back and bring people. Come with a small group (at least 3 hungry people) for best experience tasting different dishes.
Truly amazing. Service is so kind, this is a serious amount of food! The lamb is top quality marbling. Flavors have a lot of depth and complexity but not too salty or heavy at all. We topped it off with the fried dough + ice cream and can hardly move. (I would suggest no ice cream, to just appreciate the original flavor.) This is a very special place.
The food is really good here. The portion size is really big. We got the vegetarian family style meal and it had many delicious gravies. Will keep coming back to this place.
Hands down best Ethiopian food in a Chicago. Would give 6 stars if I could. The food quality is excellent with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. Also unlimited tea on the house. They made a mistake with our bill and not only corrected it but threw in a complimentary dessert. Prices are reasonable and service is excellent and felt truly well taken care of
We really enjoyed our meal at Tesfa. The service was great, the food was well-priced, and the atmosphere was nice. Not to mention that the food was delicious!! I brought along a friend who had never had Ethiopian food before, and she loved it. We got the vegetarian combination platter. Each dish was tasty and different--really worthwhile if you want to try as much as possible, and it was plenty of food for two people. And the injera was to die for. Thank you Tesfa!
Great food, amazing customer service, short walking distance from red line train.
Went Thursday 6 pm, fragrant as soon as my husband and I walked in the door. Homemade tea delicious. Had the 2 meat, 5 veg platter, to die for. We had lamb and fish. Sauces excellent, lentils awesome! Wish they had food this good in south suburbs off Halsted!
