Sure, it's not the fanciest joint around, but it's damn good chicken and you can't beat the prices. Fed five people on less than $30 for dinner. Admitedly, we stayed and ate and there was a guy who was selling weed, though discreetly, out of the booth next to us. Everyone was friendly and, hey, it's an area chock full of college kids. I wish we had one o these joints back home.
Great food and haven't changed their prices in years. When you need that greasy, "ghetto style," fried chicken Harold's is the place. Equipped with plexiglas and revolving door for the food Harold's is great food with the occasional "characters."

Y’all it’s harold’s. It tastes like you expect and the service is bad. I love this location because it has the 5$ half dark special, which is an absolute steal, so definitely come here for that mon-wed. Otherwise it’s a totally average location and can take a while to get your food, definitely not fast. I kinda love the vibes but it’s not for everyone. Chicken can’t be beat though.
Good chicken cooked to how you like it...it's best to order ahead because they can get busy or overcrowded. Catfish and chicken wing dinner is delicious

I tried one time this spring. The chicken wings were very tasty, I think. Don’t order the chicken gizzard since these are so hard to bite. I wondered if the gizzard was fresh enough. Try something that others order. I waited for 40 mins and still think the chicken wings were worth it. They offer discount for UChicago student if you order directly with them. Next time, I may try call ahead!
This Harold's has been a staple in the community for many years. People love this Harold's chicken as they add the great tasting mild sauce on the chicken piping hot. This gives you a great saucy taste on your chicken and fries.
Food is made to order so there is a wait time for the food. This store is always packed and busy so don't expect a quick in and out, you will wait for your food. There is a waiting area and plenty of parking.
The chicken is fresh and prices have gone up, as with most fast food stores, due to COVID inflation ☺️. Great food to say the least.
Customer service - first I have to say the worker with the pretty eyes (I wish I knew her name).. she was so kind! Unfortunately my usual experience with customer service at home is poor - a lot of people are rude or have attitudes. But I felt welcomed by the lady with the pretty eyes so shout out to her!! I hope she’s promoted!! 👏🏽👏🏽
Sometimes this location is a toss up - I come home about once a year. This time, I was impressed that the wings weren’t super tiny but also didn’t look steroid injected lol. Def got my money’s worth and was as tasty as I can remember 😋 I wish I had pictures

Visiting the area and I've heard about this place. I enjoyed the food especially the catfish. The mild sauce was also good.
My view is that you need to ask for sauce on the side so the breading doesn’t get soggy.
Regular customer here for decades. Specialty is chicken - don't get anything else. Your chicken is cooked to order, so it might be slower, but you get it fresh and hot. I always laugh at the logo of Harold chasing a chicken with an axe. Phone/delivery orders are not reliable, but an advantage of this location is ample free parking, so go there yourself. Look for discounts for students, seniors, etc. on certain days. The trick is to go there and order your chicken, go next door to the liquor store and buy beer, come back and pick up your chicken, and take it all home for a feast. Best fried chicken anywhere, but there's a certain choreography to getting it.
