Wentworth Seafood House, located squarely on Old Chinatown’s main street, serves delicious, well-priced Chinese seafood and traditional dishes. As with most Chinese restaurants, it’s best and most affordable to come with a larger group and order multiple dishes family-style. It was crowded on a Friday night, but my group of 7 were able to get a table without much of a wait. It’s fairly spacious inside with a lot of seating, but can get a bit cramped when full. We ordered the following dishes (**= especially recommend): - Pan-fried beef with rice noodle: always a classic and go-to in any traditional Chinese restaurant; this one was cooked and flavored perfectly. - Eggplant Casserole**: super good! the eggplant was really delicious, creamy, and intensely flavorful. - Salt & Pepper Egg Tofu**: I’m always a huge fan of egg tofu, and this one was cooked very well, retaining lots of flavor with a crispy exterior and soft silky interior. - Walnut Shrimp: always delicious and a classic. - Salt & Pepper Soft Shell Crab**: really delicious! This dish was flavorful, crispy, and well-fried. - Sweet and Sour Fish Filet: this one was not a highlight; I wasn’t a huge fan of the sweet and sour sauce and felt the flavors were too simplistic overall. - Szechuan Style Mixed Seafood with Vegetable: this dish was just okay; the seafood was a little overcooked and tough in texture. Though you really can’t go wrong with most of the restaurants in Chicago Chinatown, Wentworth ranks highly for me with its flavorful, diverse, and traditional dishes; lively vibes/energy; and affordable prices. Our total was ~$19 per person. I did find the food to be a little too salty though; I was chugging water by the end. — Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

We had brunch here on Xmas. The fish is very fresh and soup is delicious. Even not on holidays, this is my favorite Cantonese restaurant in Chicago. The food, bubble tea, and service are the top.

Spicy Jelly fish app - served cold. Gummy texture, with a salt flavor, pretty much like you would think a jellyfish tastes. Wasn’t very spicy. I didn’t hate it, but probably wouldn’t order again. Salt and pepper smelt fish. Pretty awesome. Fried whole mini fish without heads, totally pop-able, good texture on the breading. Fish was good, had a little bit of chili on it, overall very pleased, would order again. It’s listed as a meal, but it could totally be an appetizer for a group, was a little too much for one person. Szechuan boiled beef casserole - it is indeed spicy, which is awesome. Very flavorful, very tasty. Was it worth $20? Probably not. It being served on a burner seems unnecessary even though that was part of what originally drew me to choosing the dish. Even though it was real tasty, I’d probably try something else next time. Saw several other things I’d like to try, and I didn’t even get to dim sum, so I’ll be back.

What an amazing hidden gem! I thought our previous dimsum place was really good until we were introduced to this place! All the seafood dishes were well seasoned and had good quality ingredients. My favorites are anything with shrimp and dried scallops. Also Congee here is absolutely amazing! There's so many choices of congee to choose from and they're all delicious!

Great spot in the heart of Chinatown. They do have lunch specials and a good size menu plus decent selection of boba tea. Staff was pleasant, tables were clean. Restaurant was busy during lunch time.

Phenomenal dim sum. The lunch special until 4 PM is also an insane deal with a variety of delicious dishes for $9.

We ordered the crab meat soup, soft shell crab, and the szechuan style mix seafood. Everything tasted great. The crab meat soup felt like the perfect warm meal on a rainy day (it was raining that day). The soft shell crab had nice crisp and peppery flavors, and being able to eat the crab without having to remove the shell was an experience to die for. That was my favorite part of the meal. The szechuan seafood mix has great flavor, but it seems like seafood used in this dish was frozen due to the texture. Considering we are pretty much in the middle of the country, there is little to complain about. I highly recommend this place!

So good! We were here a few days ago and then came back because it's so good. We got the salt and pepper fish fillet and the golden egg yolk pumpkin and they were both fantastic. They were crispy and seasoned to perfection. I didn't think I would like the pumpkin as much but I got it because all of the other reviewers recommended it and I did not regret it! This is one of our new favorites in chinatown.

Food was really good but not amazing. Giant clam was a bit tough and the steam fish was a bit bland. Pea leaves and lobster were great. Service was great and overall I would go back again. Went back for Dim Sun the next day and they have the best dim sum around. I’ve tried quite a few here and it really is the best. The price is also very good.
