Typical dhawa style food place. Super cheap, big amount. Lots of students. The food is actually not good, but gives you the experience of local non classed real highway dhawa(cheap eatery) in India. For the comparison of price and the food, I would say it’s a good place. The place is clean.
Good for students, In/out. Good inexpensive menu items. Generous chicken pieces with Biryani. Mango Lassi also tasty.
I've tried all their chicken biryanis—affordable and flavorful, especially when paired with the raita/chutney. Although the portions of raita are small, I've requested and received an extra serving each time.
Hole in the wall restaurant located on the corner of Roosevelt in a little plaza. From the outside you wouldn’t think much of this restaurant, but on the inside you’ll be blown away with this hidden gem! It’s a no frills, Indian/Pakistani restaurant offering very cheap delicious eats. I ordered butter chicken with basmati rice and chapatti. All for $15. Incredible flavor, perfect amount of spice and large portions— what more could you want!
Got the butter chicken bowl (comes with rice on bottom. It was more than I expected. It is spicy but not overwhelming. Flavorful and tender chicken. Ordered paratha (like a tortilla kinda) as well. Delicious and very filling!!
The food was excellent. Some of the best Indian food I’ve had in Chicago. Also, portions are HUGE. Easily feed 3 people per dish it’s that big. Highly recommend any of the rice bowls. I got butter paneer.
A friend bought a few to go items kabob roll with paratha and biryanis. The roll was average. Not spectacular. The biryanis were kinda spicy.
Service was pretty fast from order to readiness. It’s a nice and white place on the campus.
My go-to place when I was a student at UIC. I could get 2 or 3 good meals out of like $5 worth of food. The taste is pretty good too for $5. Apparently not very authentic flavor, but as someone who's never had Indian food before it was great. I'd either get butter paneer with a side of rice or chicken biryani.
Great service. Fresh and fast cooking. This place used to be really delicious, but I don't know what happened last few times. Super spicy hot even if you tell them you want mild. The only saving grace is their parathas and friendly service. Would go back just for the parathas. Maybe their regular chef didn't show or have a bad night. Parking is not a problem if you want to walk a few blocks.
Still offering a 5 dollar lunch special in 2023? Get it before it’s gone. This meal easily beats most of the $10-15 meal options of other lunch eateries. I consistently go out of my way to grab me some GN.
