Interesting place in Chicago Chinatown. The food and service are fine. I did not try the Peking duck, and maybe I should have. The roast port was fine. Nothing amazing but ok.
Every time I pass by here, I will go in and bring some takeaway. Their roast duck. Absolutely recommended.
From out of town so we had to compare restaurant flavors. Bbq King did not disappoint. Typical small Chinese BBQ restaurant with big flavors! Food came out relatively fast, service is your typical elder Asian service so don't expect anything more. Duck as very good. Pork was seasoned well and had good crunch. Chicken wings looked good but weren't as good as we thought. All in all it is very good restaurant (better than the #1 recommended)
This place has been on my radar for a while now. It seems to have a large following online, especially the Peking duck. I am usually not a duck person, but after trying the Peking duck for the first time during a recent trip to Chicago, this is now one of my top favorite dishes. The crispy duck skin with bao is an absolute delight. I highly recommend this tiny, somewhat outdated restaurant with incredible Chinese food.
The duck here is amazing, highly recommend!!! Both the peking duck and roasted duck are fantastic, but the pictures are of a half order of roasted duck (a half order is still a lot!). We also had beef tenderloin with Chinese broccoli, it was delicious. The food is a bit salty but the rice evens it out. The flavors are so rich and the portions are large, should be shared!
Soup only had that single piece of carrot which is quite pathetic. It doesn’t taste bad but isn’t something I would care for.
Now let’s talk about the char siu. I had high expectations as it’s operated by presumably hong kongers based off them speaking cantonese. The char siu wasnt charred at all and the sweetness wasnt enough but it is the best I had so far compared to Ming Hin, Asian Noodle House (hoffman estate), Wanton Gourmet (des plaines) and many other less well-known Chinese restaurants.
The bok choy is bitter as well which didnt add to the meal at all.
Definitely not king of BBQ.
Clean, egg rolls are amazing! First time here definitely coming back for more! customer service was great!
First time going when locals crowd it means very good food.. somewhat of a wait line. Had pork ribs a slab full, cooked rice combination. Pretty good will be back. My only suggestion is that they make an area for you to pick up because it was getting crowded to wait inside for a to go order.
Clean place with reasonable prices . Average service. Flavorful ,perfectly cooked beef with Chinese broccoli. The Chinese broccoli wasn’t over cooked and still have a little crunch! Little one loves the beef lo-Mien. The lo-mein noodle was soft, chewy, but not hard . The beef in both dishes have the same seasoning. The chicken was good with the green onion dipping! Even the chicken breast was juicy. The chicken With or with out the dipping was flavorful to me . Can’t wait to return .
I got half a duck ($13.50) and 1lb of roast pork ($12). Both are delicious generous portion. I do prefer the roast pork over the duck but I would def come here again and I'd recommend you to try it too!
