Q is my go-to BBQ restaurant in the neighborhood. Their selection of meats is excellent (especially because they offer burnt ends and chopped brisket, two of my favorites). Sauces are quality and the sides are great (hush puppies are top notch). Definitely worth the money.
Q-BBQ is a nice food addition to the area. The 4 bbq sauces are all delicious: sweet, spicy, mustard, vinegar. I like that you order at the counter whether you're staying for dine in or doing carry out. I'm picky about cornbread, and it's better than most places. Prices are reasonable. $10 for a sandwich, a side, and 2 q-pups.
When people start off a sentence with , no offense, they are about to say something offensive.
So, No offense, but I am really sad for you if you think this is the best BBQ in the city. so sad.
Great spicy wing and friendly service but the sauces majorly missed the boat in my very knowledgeable opinion.
Loved
- Friendly service
- Nice clean space where you don't feel like your eating on top of the table next to you!
- Self service center for drinks, to go stuff and even a sink to wash sticky BBQ hands. Oh, and FREE pickles!!!
- Spicy Wings - I don't like spicy food or really wings, but these were really meaty and had a great dry rub that I could not get enough of
Okay
- Coleslaw - good flavor but pretty basic
- Brisket
- Pulled pork - large potion
- Bacon and Macaroni potato side (+1.99) - You pay the up charge and it counts as one of your two sides. Potatoes sadly are known to be a bit dry, and this one fit the stereotype. It was a big potion but had very little of the topping. Could be improved by scooping out a little of the tater and adding more macaroni. Come on, noodles are not much more expensive than potatoes!
- 2 Q pups - or hush puppies are served with the plates, they were quite greasy and sadly on the cold side of luke warm. How can fried bread be so sad?
Misses
- Sauces - This is a huge miss at a BBQ place, and can make or break the meal. This place is supposedly award winning and I honestly haven no idea how with these sauces, they all seemed to literal. I love sugar, I eat cookies for breakfast at least once a week. Q BBQ's Sweet sauce was like eating raw sugar, the spicy sauce was like spicy sugar, the mustard sauce was good but it could be better with more complexity.
I will be back for free pickles and spicy wings, but if you think this is the best BBQ in the city please venture out to Smoque and or Lillie Q's... or surprisingly even Old Crow Smokehouse if you can stomach being in Wrigleyville that long!
Went for brunch, which is a new thing for Q-BBQ. According to my boyfriend, the bloody marys were a waste being about $9/per and the mix wasn't what he expected (one of the mixes was clogged as well). THAT BEING SAID - I got some pork tacos that were phenomenal. The fries that came with them had parmesan, garlic and chives and I'm still dreaming about them. So I would definitely go back, if even just for those, since it's just down the block from me.
Walked by here for on the way home and there was a nice lady saying "free food!" with a smile on her face. I thought, why not check it out? Got two orders of wings, with fries and boy were they good! Had a nice sweet yet salty flavor. The spicy wings weren't really that spicy, but I like my food hotter than most. Will be back again, but this time I guess I'll pay for it.
My go-to BBQ place has always been SMOQUE on Pulaski, but I wanted to see if there were other places in town worth trying.. Most of the places such as Barn/Co, Wriggleyville BBQ, Smokin Woody's were misses, and Bub City.. its too loud for my taste
Q is a great place for that reason! The people serving/cooking your food understand what food should taste like, and they will help you pair the right sauces with the right meats. HIGHLY recommend the chicken wings, Brisket (sliced), and/or the ribs... dont forget the mac/cheese and a side of slaw!
We went there Monday Sept. 29 We had the baby back ribs and the st louis ribs, with sides of mac-n-cheese and cole slaw. Very very good. We did a appetizer of the chicken wings also good. We sat out on the patio. Nice place will come back.
I was able to try pulled pork and brisket sandwiches at a Yelp event. Loved both of them. The lines were really long to receive any of their food. Looking forward to going to their Lakeview location and getting a full plate.
Did you know that they also do catering? The prices are very reasonable and not your typical catering company food.

Really delicious BBQ. I had the burnt ends and the sauce options on the table were a great add on. Also had the hush puppies (Q-puppies?) were really good. Nice atmosphere, too.
Man, I love this place. This is the place I go to in Lakeview for BBQ when I can't BBQ myself. I've been here multiple times and never had a bad meal yet. Texas sliced brisket and sausage is the best!
