It was a good eating experience. I had the Italian beef and sausage combo. It was delicious and tender. I had chocolate cake for dessert and the cake is legendary.
Great taste of Chicago, I got the burger because I'm going to give the street vendors some business for the Polish Sausage. Staff couldn't tell me about the beers 🍺 so I paired the delicious double bacon cheese burger with an Illinois IPA the Anti-Hero (6.7 ABV) from Revolution Brewing. Food is served in a fast food restaurant style so order, grab and go enjoy.
Great place for a quick bite. Ordered the Italian sub, Portillo's hotdog, onion rings, and the chocolate cake. The sub is amazing with the side of gravy/dip. You can also add on some hot or sweet peppers, if that's to your liking. The hotdog is one of the best I've tried in the US. It comes with a large pickle, tomato slices, hot peppers, and some relish. The onion rings were also really crispy. Lastly, the chocolate cake, despite coming off a shelf and in a plastic container, was real good and perfectly moist. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
Portillo's is a chicago staple for a reason. They have really good food and atmosphere. I of course had to get the Chicago dog which was good, but I did notice that it was lacking sport peppers. That however did not dampen the experience and won't prevent me from stopping by when I have a hankering for a hot dog dragged through the garden
I went to this location on 7/1/2023 and I haven't had a good Italian beef in a while. It a good setting to come to get some good fresh hot food. I got the regular Italian beef with a side of fries and cheese sauce including a strawberry shake. I will definitely be back to order some food soon.
Portillo's in Chicago offers outstanding Chicago style hot dogs and shakes. The food and service are top-notch, even after 10 pm.
The hot dogs are bursting with flavor, with all the classic toppings on a steamed poppy seed bun. The shakes are creamy and indulgent.
The service is friendly and efficient, ensuring a pleasant experience.
For an authentic taste of Chicago, Portillo's is a must-visit.
I live in a small city (26,000 people) in Ohio about ⅓ of the way between Cleveland and Columbus. I came to Chicago for business and pleasure, and my cousin took us to this restaurant for a "uniquely Chicago restaurant" experience. I was walking in completely prepared for the "big city coldness" that I have experienced so many times before, which I was ok with. Fortunately for me, that is as far from what I got as possible! The warmth and friendliness from every single staff member that I had an encounter with made me feel as though I was back home. The food was out of this world, and it was so good that I didn't even have a chance to take a picture of any of it! I had the #1 meal, the Big Italian Beef, and i was half tempted to lick the paper it came in. It was that tasty! Kudos to the manager of this place for having such amazing staff! If I ever make it back to Chicago, this will absolutely be one of the places I go to eat!
The parking lot was full, but the service was surprisingly fast! The employees were down-to-earth and friendly as well.
And my Italian Beef sandwich? Sweet & hot peppers, dipped, and with cheese. Perfectly seasoned beef to kill for . . . you just can’t eat one too often. I save this delicacy for, maybe, twice a year.
Most delicious hot dog I ever had, also the most expensive lol. But it's worth it. The place is huge with lots of memorabilia, but too loud and noisy to enjoy a meal. It's a place to grab a quick bite and get out.
We ordered well done ribs since they take 25 minutes because it was busy, we decided to get Maxwell street polish hotdog which turned out to be a great appetizer.
Then we decided to get Portillo’s Beef Hotdog, which became our 2appetizer.
Once we finished, we decided to get the Chicken noodle soup which came steaming hot fit to sink the two hotdogs.
Again we decided to get the dipped Italian beef and sausage sandwich which was juicy and tasty!
Once the Ribs Came, it seems we ate a lot of other delicacies and they seemed to have forgotten the ribs on the grill, so they served them burnt. However, we talked to the staff and she was able to help us because what followed in few seconds was the TRUE AWARD WINNING RIBS!
Going back to LA and I suggest having this restaurant there.
To those visiting Chicago, we recommend this place for its kind staff, delicious meals and budget friendly unlike many places we’ve visited In Chicago over this week!
A great spot on the corner of Canal and Taylor Street in Chicago. This chain location features a drive-through and lots of FREE parking…both rarities in the world of Chicago restaurants! Super fun atmosphere with 1940s style music playing and decor. For whatever reason, the lighting makes it difficult to take photos in this place. The food is yummy. The service is quick. Definitely worth checking out this spot!
