Solid place in Old Town for Mediterranean food. Ordered the hummus, baba, and kefta platter with a side of garlic sauce. While the hummus was slightly disappointing , everything else was fantastic and at a solid price point. The service was attentive and great.
We were walking around just after 10 PM and needed a bite. Two other places turned us away, kitchen’s just closed, but Old Jerusalem was a shining star in the distance. I had the Kefta Plate on recommendation from the waiter and it was delicious. Fresh herbs in the juicy tender meat lit up my mouth. The rice was moist and full of flavor and was a perfect complement to the large roasted tomato sat in the middle of it all. The food was superb and fresh. Perhaps it was just because it was late but I would have enjoyed some quiet background music in the restaurant.
Family-run middle eastern restaurant with a variety of authentic dishes. The restaurant itself is a little run-down and the waiters/waitresses are very kind. The hummus was tad too sour and so was the side of tahini. The other side was a sortof spicy sauce. The falafels were very crispy on the outside and incredibly tasty. The warm pita breads paired well with the hummus and greens as great for making falafel sandwiches. Great place if you’re a fan of middle eastern cuisine!
We were at the Old Town Arts Fest and found this gem of a restaurant. They were able to seat our group of 11 inside. Everything tasted fresh. The servers made us feel part of their family. The Aramaic coffee was deliciously nutty and smooth. Large portions made it easy to share. I chose the vegetarian platter and tasted the Shawarma with rice. Hands down, I'll be back!
This was our second time at this place and absolutely loved the food. We had Hommos Plate, Falafil Plate, Falafil Sandwich and Shawirma Sandwich. Loved all the things. Highly recommend the place if you are in Old Town area. They also have a BYOB option which makes it even better. There is a liquor shop 0.2 mi away from the restaurant.
We went there last Sunday because we were craving some good Israeli/Arabic food. Their falafel sandwich is absolutely amazing (served inside of pita). Pro-tip - get their garlic sauce it will make us even better! We tried all of their desserts - baklava was probably my favorite, but they all ante pretty good. And of course coffee - authentic Arabic coffee was the best part! Very reasonably priced place to get authentic Arabic food. Staff is very friendly, it’s a family-owned place which definitely add a nice feel to it. Will be back for that falafel sandwich (with garlic sauce)!
My husband and I visited this restaurant the first day back in Chicago and the hospitality was beautiful. Beautiful family owned and operated restaurant in downtown. How did we not know of this place before?? The food tasted like love. Thank you so much for what you do. Ramadan Mubarak!!
They had a fresh veggie plate, falafel was crispy 😋, the meat plate was super goooood! You can enjoy the outdoor seating in the beautiful old town neighborhood 😌
I ordered online (Ritual) for pick up after 10 mins I arrived there, of course I am expecting the food isn't ready yet. I heard the owner ordering the kitchen staff to make the food as fast as they can. That was very nice gesture that I really appreciate. I told them they can take their time. I only waited for 10 mins, the food was done and served with big smile.
When I got home and we tried the food. Ohmgosh! You should try this. The Falafel sandwich was superb, I like the combination that I ordered and I could eat the toubulli salad. It refreshed my palate.
Great people, great food and great location. Definitely will be back again soon
