I was pleasantly surprised with this hidden gem. We stopped by before our show at Civic Opera. The service was fast and food even better. They have a great bar if you don’t have time for a dinner, but I can highly recommend to try something from their menu. Also, the view is amazing!
Good service. Friday lunch was not busy at all and sitting outside was great as you can see the boats passing by the river. Food was not bad.
We had a small rehearsal dinner, followed by a big welcome party on the river for over 200 guests from 20 different states. This is a perfect location for people that have never been to Chicago and those that are locals, because the view of the river and the buildings is absolutely stunning. They have the biggest covered outdoor patio in the city, and it was a perfect setting for our guests. From the dinner food to the appetizers and cocktails, every single detail was excellent. We couldn't believe how kind the staff was, from the person that we first interacted with to every bartender. They were flexible and really cared about making this experience enjoyable and unique for our guests, and wow, they delivered! We are so thankful for what your team put together for us. The asiago encrusted scallops might be the best scallop dish I've ever had. Service and views exceptional.
My wife and I had our Wedding reception at Rivers Restaurant this past summer 2023. About a month before our wedding, we came across a large issue that forced us to cancel with our previously booked venue. We scrambled to find a new venue, and quickly came across Rivers Restaurant. From the moment we reached out to them, they were extremely responsive, professional, and attentive to our situation, and had us come in immediately for a meeting to discuss the details at length to get us set up at their beautiful venue for the (luckily) available date. Kelly was an absolute pleasure to work with, and her wait staff did an amazing job at the reception. Dan was thorough, honest, and very helpful from the very first meeting. I could not recommend Rivers Restaurant more as an event or reception venue. 10/10.
Nice location next to river. Server attentive. Good American fare and Americanized ethnic foods. Nice variety of choice. Food nicely seasoned. Nice size portions. Took a star off for the ice cream that had lots of ice chips, possibly refrozen
I’ve attended Rivers Restaurant numerous times for sorority events but this visit was for a ‘Thank You’ dinner on Aug 23rd. I’ve had their finger foods/appetizers but this was the first time I had dinner. It was a wonderful experience. I started with the Cucumber Basil Lemonade (TRY IT)...very cool, refreshing drink. We ordered a variety of appetizers so I can recommend the crab cakes, calamari, the guacamole tower and THE SHRIMP BRUSCHETTA! All excellent choices. My main entree was the Shrimp Risotto. Very good. I had a taste of the Chilean Sea Bass (a true winner)! My dessert was the Sweet Potato Bread Pudding. Another winner! All in all, great conversation, great food!
Most amazing Crab Cakes and Penne pasta with Chicken. Worth every penny! Staff was wonderful.
Cool after work spot. Just came for some drinks and small, shared eats, but I'll definitely be back. Nice, large patio on the river. The service was great, but did degrade a bit as the place got busier. To be expected, I suppose.
Business lunch at Rivers was nice. The crab cake was full of white meat crab. Seasoned well. They created a wrap for me instead of a sandwich
