This one definitely goes into my top 5!
The Ramen was very tasty; all the flavors matched perfectly! The spicy miso ramen broth was probably one of the best I’ve tried, and the original ramen did not disappoint.
I was really surprised by the appetizers: pork and kimchi spring rolls and bao buns with teriyaki pork. These two were just divine, and I probably liked them even more than the ramen itself! Wow! Also, their kimchi had a perfect taste!
This place always has long queues. The trick to avoid standing in line is to come either before their opening time or around 2 pm on weekends. Their last seating is at 3 pm before they reopen for the dinner shift, and there’s usually space then!
All in all, highly recommended!
Great Service, Awesome Atmosphere! The food was pretty good, but the pork was a little thick. But they were pretty generous with the amount of pork given, and the overall portion size was good! We ordered a plate of Karaage, the Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Sapporo Ramen, which were all overall pretty good!
The ramen was on point the meat inside was very tender.very flavorful broth. I really have no complaints I will definitely come back again. If you like ramen and are in the area definitely try this place.
The ramen bowls are tasty. Mine is vegan/vegetarian with added egg. $1 extra for half of one. The broth is very thick so I asked for some warm water to add to it. Our server is very nice and courteous. There was no wait for us because we opted to sit at the large community table instead of getting our own separate one. It's large enough to sit many. There are patio drawings outside as well. My husband was a little upset when he was wandering in the restaurant asking a waitress for the restroom. She rudely said that it's for customers only. Why would someone automatically assume that?! When he said he was sitting and eating just a second ago, she pointed him to it, and walked away without even apologizing. I thought it was a bit funny but also weird.
I am admittedly not the biggest ramen enthusiast, but Ramen Wasabi serves many different types of non-Ramen dishes as well as their Ramen selections. I tried their Shitake Mushroom slider, which was good, although the taste was a bit overshadowed by the huge heaping of slaw relative to the portion size of the mushroom. Also ordered the Tokyo Spicy Wing small plate (pictured), which was very tasty (and spicy!🔥). The Wagyu Beef Bowl - Gyn Don (pictured) was not that substantial or tasty. I did try their take on an Old Fashioned with dinner, which was quite refreshing and tasty. So overall, kind of a mixed bag - although I did not have ramen, which is kind of this restaurant's big thing. Also, the interior of the restaurant is smallish and it fills up quick, so if you don't want to be waiting for your ramen, it's worth it to get to Ramen Wasabi a little bit on the earlier side.
I was absolutely blown away by how amazing the food was here. The atmosphere is very cool and great for a date or meet up with a friend— Can be dressed up or down kinda location. We got two appetizers and two bowls of ramen and oh my god I got to try each and was aghast at how delicious everything was. Everything seemed reasonably priced too, I paid 30 for a bowl of ramen AND a whole appetizer for just me. Would DEFINITELY recommend getting the pork belly buns they were absolutely to die for. Will definitely be returning.
The wait time was over an hour and they did not take our calls to book a reservation. Also, they don't have many gluten free options. I ordered a vegan poke bowl after explaining the server about my celiac disease. It was tasty and I did not get any reactions.
My husband had the vegan ramen and he enjoyed his food. I would really like if they can offer gluten free vegetarian ramen in future.
It was my first time in Chicago, and Wasabi was my favorite culinary stop. I'm a big Ramen fan, so when I found them online, I made it a priority to try it. They didn't disappoint, the food was absolutely delicious! It was my bf's first time trying real good Ramen, and the bar has been set very high!
Be aware that the waiting list is long, but it's totally worth it!
Staff was friendly :)
The cons: It's not a big space, the tables are close together, it's crowded, packed and busy.
Bartender was chill and suggested some stuff. He also suggested trying out some of the whiskeys they have.
I really liked the classic shoyu. It really had alot of flavor and it didn't need an appetizer to fill you fully up. I also got a hi-ball and it was quite nice.
I do wish I would have tried the spicy garlic ramen after seeing someone else's but there is always next time.
Food was delicious and well made. Noodles had good texture and large serving of meat. Cocktails were also well made and flavourful. Good atmosphere, pretty large venue but could be a little tricky to find parking around there. The service was fast.
