The place does look abandoned & a little iffy but food was surprisingly good
I love it, haters can hate, but I always keep coming back. Pepper steak is always on point, Shrimp and Broccoli on point, if the commentators here said they're food was cold was probably BC they don't actually come when they're told.
I've always found Chinese food in Charleston to be pretty disappointing but this is a place I keep coming back to. They've got a wide selection of Chinese-American classics and they all taste incredible. It's very affordable and they have a great lunch special that you should take advantage of. It's unfortunate that they get such a bad rap because I've eaten here several times and have never had a bad experience.

Food is consistently good. Good variety. Fast and friendly service. I've been a patron of this restaurant for at least 15 years!! I've watched the owners' children grow into well-mannered teens. Occasionally, I will try another Chinese restaurant in the area, but they never seem as good as Hong Kong.
We ordered 3 Lunch Specials and all were good! Pork Egg Foo Yung, Mixed Vegetables, Shrimp Curry, and Chicken Wings. Maybe best EFY, I've ever had. Clean, small, nothing fancy.
The hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had - nice and spicy! The spices they use are great, and they do Hunan style correctly. My only dislike is that every time I'm in there, the owner is eating with one or both of his children, and is scolding them for something. It is disrespectful to the guests, but I guess he doesn't realize that.
We've lived in West Ashley for a year. We have tried many fast food Chinese restaurants and all have been terrible. BUT, Hong Kong was pretty darn good. We will be back.
Good food but suuuuppperrrr frugal with sauces. Seem bothered by asking for sauce with the meal
