Charleston has some fantastic restaurants and bars, lots to do and see. This also includes all of the confectionary shops from the River or Market street sweets to Savannah's candy, and also here at Kilwins, where they have some wonderful chocolate treats that are artistic in creation and presentation. Right next door is a coffee shop, so grab some bites and drink some coffee.
Run of the mill old fashioned ice cream shop. It didn't strike me as anything gourmet, or specialty like Ben n' Jerry's - but it gets the job done. Store also has a ton of homemade candy. Probably 30+ different kinds of ice cream.
Love this place! Everything I've gotten has been GREAT pistachio, cherry and roasted coconut ice creams are excellent so are the chocolate covered pretzels my daughter ate it right up! Some servers are better then others but haven't had a bad enough experience to fault them.
If you like coconut at all, do yourself the favor of having Kilwin's toasted coconut. It truly is their most outstanding flavor. I wish we had thought to look at the name tag of the young gentleman working there today because he was just about the kindest server we've ever encountered. If you're in the area and looking for a way to best the heat, stop in.
Delicious.. Went in to just look around for free samples, walked out with a cup of ice cream.
Blueberry waffle cone and roasted coconut were great.
Delicious Desserts Best Choice on Market St/ French Quarter. This is the best choice for desserts on Market St and the French Quarter Market.
The staff there was super friendly and even though it was extremely busy we were out of there pretty quickly.
Surprisingly it was cheaper than Ben & Jerry's and the ice cream was amazing! I got the praline & pecan ice cream in a waffle cone which was freshly made and served nice and warm.
The single scoop with a waffle cone was $4.50 and enough to satisfy a big guy like myself. My wfie went with the children's size :)
She also bought some fudge. She liked it but said it wasn't the best she's ever had though.
There's no seating inside its more of a take-out. But the location calls for that anyways. Right outside they have a little bench and a few steps down there's a place where people can sit down and enjoy the scenery.
While Charleston has some of the best food around, it is not known for ice cream (certainly not to the level of... Let's say Montreal Canada). That being said, Kilwin's has some extremely decent offerings. Their ice cream is certainly the best in town. They also have all kinds of candied products. The shop can be busy and packed but the line usually moves fairly quickly, even during peak time you should be able to get your ice cream in 5 to 10 minutes.
The place had a nice quaint feel to it. There were loads of sweets to choose from. Ice cream, fudge, chocolate and much more. Even white chocolate and vanilla if you like me and don't particularly like chocolate. We tried a few different sweets and they taste as good as they look if not better.
The store is set up so you can see the tools of the trade laying around. So they probably have a time set so customers can watch them makes sweets the old school way.
You may want to call ahead and see when that is if your interested.
This is a cool chocolate and ice cream shop. They have such a wide range of variety. You can watch them create their chocolate creations in the exposed kitchen. They have samples of their many fudge selections. There are also many packages sweets that are great for gifts. We are so glad we stopped by.
We stopped because of the delicious smell coming from the entrance. We ended up buyin Fudge, peanut butter cups, chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate covered rice crispy treats and several other items. We love everything we have tasted and the service was great. We will be back on our next trip to Charleston SC.
What a wonderful place! The white chocolate is amazing but my true love is the Chocolate Caramel Apples! You can get them with or without nuts. If you are anywhere near the City Market visit Kilwin's Chocolates. Oh! I don't want to forget to mention the staff... they all are super friendly!!!
So many different flavors of ice cream and so much fudge! The ice cream is very expensive (1 scoop in a waffle cone is over $7) so I'll have that another day. Then I moved on to the fudge. It's expensive too, but it's worth every bite! Today I sampled French Silk fudge, Chocolate Raspberry fudge, and Kilwins Mud fudge. All three were good so the decision was difficult to make. There was an option to buy two slices and get one slice free. I ended up with Kilwins Mud (a gift for a friend), French Silk, and Chocolate (these last two for me and my munchkins to share). The total price ended up being $31 and some change.
Wow! This ice cream shop is awesome! Super friendly employees and a great selection of ice cream and desserts! Highly recommend!
Chocolate Toasted Coconut! I mean, if you haven't tries it then you're missing out. It's so amazing. Their fudge prices are ridiculously high and out of reach but their ice cream is wonderful.
We stopped here because we just could not walk by without doing so 🙂 So many things to choose from it's hard to make up your mind. Don't want chocolates? No problem grab some nice cooling yummy ice cream 🍦 You can even watch them make the chocolates 🍫
This is a great place to top off your night with dessert they have so many selections. Candied apple ice cream many different fudge options. A great place to get if you are parked close to market Street.
