Quaint Italian spot in an otherwise unremarkable location of Kenmore Ave. It's a bit cramped I felt in regards to table spacing and definitely the hostess area. Once seated the service was sort of lacking in regards to flow and attention. Our first course had one guest with an app and the other waiting 5 minutes for theirs, which admittedly isn't a crisis it also isn't appropriate when dining out and paying good money on a meal. The fact it wasn't even mentioned or apologized for by the waiter rubbed me the wrong way. Bread had to be requested after we saw other tables sat after us being served. Another mark of sub par service. Orders of additional glasses of wine needed to be done by flagging down a server. Again, lacking on the attentiveness to the table.
I found the menu to be pretty good, and the food to be pretty decent. First courses were good (fried risotto balls & house salad with gorgonzola). Entrees of Margherita Pizza and Ribeye were fine, nothing amazing but not bad. The steak was grilled properly for the ordered temp. Dessert was probably the best course, flourless chocolate cakes and hazelnut gelato that was really exceptional, very light yet sweet and refreshing. 

I think we will be back again to try some other dishes and give it another chance, but hoping to receive better service next time.

With out-of-town family visiting and a request for pasta, we made our way to Gigi’s Cucina Povera for a Sunday night dinner. There were several of us seated at a very comfortable round table so 4 bottles of wine were ordered along with some Arancini (risotto balls and mozzarella) and clams casino. I preferred the clams casino that were perfectly baked and not at all chewy. The other family members completely enjoyed the Arancini, but I found them a bit too plain for my taste. Moving onto the dinner, I asked for a recommendation and the server suggested Spaghetti Carbonara. It was fantastic! I loved the creamy sauce created by the butter and egg and there was the perfect about of pancetta gave the dish a rich flavor. I tried some of my brother’s Linguini Con Vongole (yes I enjoy fresh clams) and the white clam sauce was delicious with a perfect amount of clam juice and garlic so the flavors blended together and did not over power. I sampled the rib eye and enjoyed the rosemary and sea salt twist to the cut. It was requested to be done medium and that is exactly how it was prepared – no complaints there. The entire dinner was enjoyable and the staff was extremely attentive. We ended the meal with their homemade Limoncello. It was so yummy that we ordered a bottle to go. We are already planning a return during the holiday season!

I had the greatest pleasure of partaking in some  wonderful soup this week. All I can say: The Chef's  of Gigi's have my attention! I will follow from now on. Hat's off To the fine work of the kitchen staff at this wonderful establishment. I'll be calling to find out when their cooking my meal. Thank You Chef D; you know art. I'll be dreaming of my next meal with you.

Been there twice and absolutely love it. This time we did 4 total courses including dessert. The cheese and antipasti app was perfect, pickled relish w chopped olives was our fave. Salad was very light and my choice to add gorgonzola on top was a wise flavor booster. The carbonara was the best ive had in buffalo, and did not cause any subsequent rush to the bathroom like I've had even at places that give the utmost italian fine-dining atmosphere (wont name any names since i do still like them, just wont get the carbonara ever again!!). My leftover carbonara was still just as scrumptous for lunch the next day. The house made limoncello was the ultimate topper of the evening. Cant wait to go back!!!

I usually only write a review when I was disappointed or didn't like a place, but this place was delish.

I went with a small group and we normally don't like trying new places because we're always disappointed, but last night this place earned itself on our short list of places we will go again.

Everything we ordered was great: the octopus, peppers, artichoke, cod, veal Marsala, steak, scallops, desserts all amazing.

Service was great and the waitress even brought my difficult daughter some fruit that wasn't on the menu and was clearly a sweet accommodation on her part.

I'm hoping this place stays open because you can tell by the taste of the food and it's presentation that this spot is a labor of love. Great job Gigi's

Sicilian Cooking. Came in for restaurant week on Monday. Place was decently full. Loved the circular bar and the paintings on the wall. Was told the owner's father painted them. There were specials offered in addition to the restaurant week choices. We ended up ordering off the regular menu to have bigger portion sizes but ordered a $20.13 bottle of their red wine. Waitress brought us bread with Davolio oil and a dip made with chickpeas. Menu is broken down into courses. Started off with the cardoons for our appetizer. They tasted and smelled like I was in my Sicilian grandmothers kitchen. Had a basic house salad while the other diner had the fennel, beet and orange salad. For entrees we got the midnight spaghetti and the Gemelli pasta. Midnight spaghetti could have used some more red pepper flakes so if you like it spicy tell them. Gemelli pasta had seafood in it and had a sweeter southern Italian sauce. We will definitely be back to try more of their entrees and homemade limoncello.

Real Sicilian Fare, Wonderful Cocktails, Housemade Limoncello. I have been to Gigi's a number of times since it's opening. This is a wonderful place to have a relaxing dinner or sit at the bar and enjoy cocktails and appetizers with friends or a date. The food has always been phenomenal-with an emphasis on quality fresh ingredients that are allowed to shine without the over seasoning that so often occurs at many restaurants in our area. I shouldn't be subjected to the overpowering scent of garlic in the parking lot which happens at many eating establishments in WNY. On our most recent visit I enjoyed the Panelle-described as "Sicilian Street Food." This mouthwatering appetizer is what can best be described as a fritter, made with chickpeas and deep fried. Cooked to perfection with a light, thin crust, the inside was hot creamy goodness. Served with a lemon aioli and caprese salad. It was apparent the tomatoes were freshly picked, and this was confirmed by the owner who said they were from her garden. My son and I split a dozen steamed clams, which I have had a number of times. They were plump and fresh, served with drawn butter and lemon wedges. These never disappoint. I enjoyed a "Blood Orange Martini" before we ate. This was very nice-not too sweet. The waitstaff is always pleasant, accommodating, and attentive. They are knowledgeable about the menu and if they are not sure will happily ask the chef. The owner is dedicated to supporting local businesses and farms, and this is apparent by the quality of the food she serves. The bartender, Gino is friendly and also happy to share so of his favorite dishes as well as sing an aria! He is an amazing and talented baritone. Don't forget to try the Housemade Limoncello!

Our new favorite place in Buffalo. Food is outstanding, great wait and bar staff. Excellent Italian wines. Sicilian burger is phenomenal!
