My kid lives around the corner. I spent more time at the bar --- Brooklyn Safehouse -- than I did at their place, or at my Airbnb. Great vibe.
Wish I knew more about the place. Like, is it a safe house because that big thing is a safe? Was it some kind of Repository of great security, back in the day?
Mostly though, now that I'm back home in California, I miss --- really miss --- the painting of the baker and the Chimneysweep. Maybe the Mgmt could snap a good picture of that painting and post it on FB or on the website or whatever.
oh, hey, I gotta mention that this is a place where fairly reliably you can get Brooklyn Brewing beer. If not, like they run out and it's late, the other beers are great too. Saranac!

Low key, dimly light neighborhood bar perfect for getting some drinks with friends. Pool table.

LOVE this place. Super simple no fuss bar with booths. The beers are cheap as hell, even cheaper at happy hour, and whilst not a wide selection, there's always some decent stuff on draft. Food is amazing - great Mexican food always freshly cooked.
Truly as the name suggests. Bartenders are locals and actually care. Shoot some pool, eat a taco, play trivial pursuit.
I was looking for a new gluten free place to try, I really enjoyed the food and the chef is very accommodating to those who have gluten free allergies.
It is a smaller kitchen so food can take some time but it's a hangout spot so to me that's totally fine. If you are in a hurry, I'd suggest asking how long they think it'll take if there a bunch of people in the bar since it's hard to tell how many people are waiting for food.
The door was literally wide open on a January Tuesday. No doubt for ventillation, but an apt symbol: come one come call at this dark and artsy saloon. $4 drafts (where else?) plus hefty, tasty tacos turned out by small kitchen in the back. Overall, an excellent casual drinking place.
One of my favorite bars in Greenpoint. Great lighting, chill bartenders, strong drinks and free pool. Such a better vibe than all the $20 cocktail places popping up around here
