This restaurant has a cozy date vibe going on. I went on a week night and the restaurant seating on the inside was full, every table had a customer. We walked in and was seated immediately, the menu has so much to choose from, I had the chicken gyro and my boyfriend had the lamb wrap. Both were so delicious.
The people who worked there were so friendly and pleasant, our waiter was so knowledgeable with the food and the drinks. I would definitely recommend this restaurant people.
Lovely brunch place, got the mixed grill ( you can pick three grills from the menu and we got lamb, chicken and salmon ) , shakshuka and hummus mix, all came with a pita. This was good for 4 person. Our server was so fun, love the vibe.
This place is such a gem!! Such a great environment to eat and feel special at the same time. The waiters were so informative and helpful. The food was amazing. Everything was tasty. I can't wait to go back and try more
Delicious Mediterranean food and friendly service. The mezze plate was really good - we substituted the beet salad for the tabbouleh which was recommended by our waiter. The Turkish eggs were good too but it was just 2 poached eggs and a bit too much labne. The pita was amazing - fresh, thin but chewy. The bartender made a hugo spritz for us which wasn't on the menu and he made it well.
The vibe is welcoming and the service is very attentive. Both the lamb sausage and the Shakshuka were just ok, while the labneh and hummus in the mezze platter tasted good.
We had a wonderful Sunday night dinner at the Black Iris. We got the Mezze Plate which was very fresh, flavorful, and amazing! We also got the mixed grill. The mixed grill was awesome because we got to try several different meats: shrimp, chicken, and lamb. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. The service was awesome! Definitely going to go back and also want to try it for take out. Highly recommend
Lovely experience here with caring, kind staff. Strong AC inside, actually so cold we had to move outside. The location’s atmosphere is wonderful inside and out (I sat in both over the course of dinner!). Food presentation and portions are good. Only issue is we felt mezzes and food in general lacked a bit of flavor, or pep somehow. Across the board, we felt the dishes could use stronger garlic, depth of spices, and lemon brightness, especially the hummus and chicken gyro meat. The beet salad also seemed a little soggy or waterlogged like it had been sitting. The babaganus was a bright spot, one of the better ones I’ve had. I will definitely keep trying this place to see if it moves along, since it’s a great spot and I believe in them. Also would be super nice if they added gluten free (GF) designations to their menu (and maybe more options!).
We just moved the neighborhood and had to try out this spot and it far exceeded our expectations! Our waiter, Luis, was so helpful with ordering and made our dining experience amazing. We ordered the lamb pitza and falafel dish and they everything was amazing. We’ll be back!
Great food and atmosphere and friendly staff. Can highly recommend the chickpea croquettes.
Fans of this lamb leaning mid-east joint’s food from its decades of service on Dekalb, should definitely drop by the new spot on Lafayette. The space, which many restaurants have briefly called home over the years, has never looked or felt better. Grab a seat at the full bar - yes full bar - or a table in the perfectly lit, inviting dining room and enjoy some truly lovingly prepared plates brought to you by the most genuinely friendly servers in town. I really hope this quiet corner can be home to Black Iris for their next 23 years.
