I love this place especially their baked goods. However I wish they would add the Chai Latte to the reward program. I’ve asked so many times. If a tea is part of it I don’t see why the chai isn’t. Thank you Smith Canteen!
They made a really good flat white (it’s off-menu, but really not much of a stretch, and they knew what it was). They have a pretty extensive food selection compared to otherwise similar coffee shops. They have a bunch of baked goods and don’t seem to sell out early. They also make sandwiches and salads, although not fresh—they seem to be sitting in a refrigerator case below the baked goods display, which is a bit of a downside in my view and might stop me from coming here for lunch. The pumpkin bread was good, about average for good, bakery/coffee shop pumpkin bread, but still good. But really, the flat white was objectively good from the first sip, with or without a lid (if there’s too much foam, a lid can remedy the situation, but it wasn’t necessary here). The staff was a little surly, but I was also admittedly a little distracted as I ordered. Here’s seating for maybe 15. I didn’t see a public restroom. It’s right by the Carroll street subway station.
I am visiting from California.
Best cappuccino I've had so far this visit (Blue bottle was Luke warm to say the least) Perfect temperature and amazing taste. Friendly warm staff. Really love the atmosphere. They know what they are doing.
I loved this little coffee shop in Carroll Gardens. My soy latte was delicious as was the chocolate chip cookie. The baristas were friendly and quick with service. We got a nice little table by the window, there was plenty of seating even for such a small spot.
Cute, good pastry selection. Mint green tea was refreshing but not the freshest tasting. Very limited seating. Do love the campaign to move to reusable cups.
I liked the airy atmosphere. I think it was to do with less laptops and more social chatter! My espresso was very good. The person serving me actually smiled and engaged in conversation!
Enjoyed the coffee here but at he quality is not consistent. Don't go in there with super high expectations. It's a neighborhood coffee shop that's a good in and out or lounge around.
We need more local places like this cute coffee shop.
I ma sick of DD and Starbucks!
Very friendly owner, very helpful staff. They really made me feel they appreciate the fact that I buy in their place.
Super fast service. They serve Counter Culture coffee which is fantastic. Great music and vibe. Pop in and grab your morning latte and feel great about making a great decision.
Welcomed by warm and witty baristas singing along to Carole King, I joined in while I gazed out of the window sipping on an aromatic cup of jasmine tea. Smith Canteen is as pleasant a coffeehouse you will find in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of SW Brooklyn. They also have a lot of love for Mother Earth, bring your own mug and you are rewarded with a 10% discount. 💚
