Amazing service, cozy ambiance and most of all delicious food. The shrimp curry crepe is to die for. I highly recommend. Only down side is Cash only accepted.
Pates & Traditions is a quaint, charming corner cafe that looks like a slice of the French countryside. It looks like it was decorated by a French grandma with lots of kitchy French items covering almost every inch of wall space. The decor works well mostly because matches the theme and style of the menu perfectly. The service here is warm and accommodating. We went for brunch — around 12pm on a Sunday and there was no wait to be seated; unlike many other places in this neighborhood where the brunch waits can be 1 hour plus. The menu features about a dozen themed crepes, and a handful of omelettes, french toast, and a couple traditional French dishes. I had the “oeufs Perigord” ($16) and my mouth was in heaven. Eggs are baked in a crock with mushrooms and cream, then topped with chunks of foie gras. 🙀 The foie melts into everything and you have a yolky, creamy, foie mix which is perfect spooned onto toast. The flavors and textures were amazing to me — i was so happy to discover this dish. My boyfriend’s crepe came filled with potatoes and was topped with generous chunks of Camembert ($12). We shared the French toast ($9) and it was some of the nest we’ve ever had. Custardy, crispy, a bit sweet, it was the perfect share item. The portions are modest and the prices are very reasonable for what you get which is nice. We cant wait to come back for more — especially in summer, when they have outdoor seating on this still quiet corner of Williamsburg.
Really enjoyed my time in Pates et Traditions. It brought back great memories of the romantic French atmosphere you can only find in that country and the cuisine is a good carbon copy as well. It's July, and their AC works great during those hot and humid evenings in Brooklyn. The staff have French accents which adds to the ambiance and the menu options are traditional as the name states. We ordered an appetizer and Kir with prosecco. I recommend the peach and cherry Kir. During our time the staff played traditional romantic French music. Overall I'm very impressed with the atmosphere, quality of the cuisine and price. BRAVO Pates et Traditions for bringing France to Brooklyn.
Beautiful French restaurant. People speaking French everywhere so it must be authentic. Very large portions but I'd still say $$ instead of $ (by my standards anyway!). Sadly they only accept cash so you have to fork over your entire wallet or use the ATM, but that was basically the only drawback as the food was amazing. We came for a late dinner on a Friday and it was full but not overly busy, we were seated immediately. The outdoor trees and atmosphere are so peaceful.
This place is amazing. I ordered the mushroom chicken penne and it was really the best pasta dish that I ever had. Try to crepes as well because they're famous for it. Luckily we arrived early before it got packed. Nice decor!
Such a cute French place! The salmon crepe was delicious and the interior was colorful and cozy. Ended up staying longer then expected because of how pleasant the food, service, and atmosphere was!
Stopped in for desert after dinner and quickly wished we would have eaten mains there too! Tasty and good value menu, every dish around us looked great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Sweet neighborhood French place where crepes are the highlight. Outdoor seating is in individual plastic corrugated “sheds” with small heaters. They make it charming with string lights, but like a lot of outdoor dining - metal chairs. And the service is warm and engaging.
So, this place is the literal cutest thing in the world. My friend and I just had the best time watching the world go by as we sat outside lounging. The food was hecking delicious! I got the crepe with goat cheese and my life was complete! Bacon and goat cheese are a combo sent by the gods themselves. The blood orange and pink lemonades are yumminess. The staff is really friendly to boot!
Good food, cash only, atm is there. Went for lunch and the owner “required” us to pay double the tax for tip. You can never “require” certain amount of tip without letting one know early on, especially when it’s cash only...?
Food:
duck breast crepe 4.5/5.0
Salmon crepe 3.5/5.0 (a little too much)
