Today was my first visit. I ordered jerk chicken with rice and beans. The chicken is spicy (like I like it) and the rice is soft. The chicken was all dark meat which I didn’t mind either. I also had a whisky sour and margarita while I waited. They have happy hour on Sundays (although the whisky sour didn’t qualify.) This was worth the 15 minute walk from home in my new neighborhood. I’ll be back. Note: I ate half of the chicken before taking the picture.
Wishing I could leave SIX stars! DELICIOUS DELICIOUS DELICIOUS!!!!
I know this will not make me a fan amongst our Brooklyn brothers and sisters, but this Melanies Doubles BEATS TRINCITI!!! They’re huge, tasty, and that mango chutney cannot be beat!
I can’t remember the last time I had a lunch special under $10, but most of theirs are under 9 with a choice of soda or water!
Please try:
-Doubles
-Fried Snapper with Rice and Dahl
-Curry Chicken and Rice
-Jerk Chicken and Fried Rice
The staff is incredibly friendly, the beer is cold, and the spices are hot! I can’t speak for takeout, but go get yourself some Melanie’s!
As passing by this establishment for years coming from the 6 train walking towards the express bus to Queens, there was always a certain "pull" of energy that enticed me to go inside. While attending a dinner with my girlfriends, it was no wonder how this place always "called" to me.
Inside is nice and cozy with a family atmosphere. It was an amazing experience with amazing staff and great patrons. We'll be back soon :)
I've been here a few times and the food is amazing! I had the jerk chicken fried rice and the appetizer was pholourie, which is so good with the spicy mango sauce. Plus I had an amaretto sour to complete the meal.
The chicken curry was excellent! It had the best flavor as well as the chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. If I lived nearby, I'd order it regularly! The staff who waited on us was very attentive.
Melanie's is a nice Guyanese West Indian Restaurant located right in Castle Hill, Bx. NY. with good food, the Jerk Chicken & Rice & Beans is a must try. The owners are nice & I will recommend & be back again.🍴🥘🍛🧉

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very welcoming, good atmosphere and reasonable prices. But you have to spend at least $25 to use a debit or credit card. Still it's a nice joint to eat and hang out
Roast Duck was good, chicken fried rice was better than the other guyanese restaurants around the Bronx.
