This is probably the only 100% authentic Puerto Rican food restaurant in the area and the quality is as superb and consistent as it was 20 years ago. I was there yesterday for food and drinks and had a great time. The chicharrones de pollo were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The service is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. I am going back today for some rice, beans and bistec palomilla, which is the best in New York.

First time eating from this restaurant and I was not disappointed whatsoever! My bf being the Bronx native he is said the food was good so we decided to share the picada platter small size. I asked for 4 slices of lime and some blue cheese. They gave me a whole tub of lime! I was so impressed because usually Hispanic restaurants in NYC tend to give 2 slices or none! I would definitely like to dine in and order an entree!

Love this spot as this restaurant has been around for many years here in the Bronx and is an official landmark in the borough. Maribel is the owner is such a great and caring person and always accommodating, great bartenders, food and service. Karaoke on Wednesday and Saturday night.

I must say especially during this time of Covid that it's been increasingly hard to find good, quality establishments that still take time to care for their guests and provide personal service. The South of France is one of those places. The place is small, cozy and has a bar area along with a separate seating/dining area. It felt classy with mirrors everywhere and real roses at each table. Currently the menu is hand written, ( I was told this will be upgraded to a standard printed menu soon) but this wasn't an issue for us. The beef empanadas were delightful. Seasoned well and fried perfectly and piping hot. Our main course took a little while to arrive as the patriarch explained she was personally making our orders from scratch. This was genuinely nice and we filled the interim with great Pina coladas and cold beer. Once the food arrived it was hands down some of the best Spanish food I've eaten in a long time. Reminding me of the table at my grandmother's home. Beans fresh and seasoned with cilantro and Adobo. Arroz con Gandules tasted so fresh and cooked perfectly along with the white rice. Fried plantains with fresh garlic and salt. The Chicharron de Pollo was so good..boneless pieces of chicken breast fried and seasoned perfectly...not a drop of grease anywhere and so moist and juicy. Presentation...A+, Food...A+, Personal service and attention...A+. This place has quickly become one of my favorite spots to enjoy a lovely Spanish dinner in the bronx...Bronx... and probably in the city.

I can’t rave enough how insanely awesome this place is….I’m more of a burger and fries kind of guy tbh but I do love me my Rican food…and this place did NOT disappoint. The food was utterly AMAZING from the chuleta and tostones my lady had (I ate most her tostones lmao) to the steak and fries I had (the fries were hand cut and straight up had that home made vibe and taste…and the steak was practically perfect…super win). Then of course there’s the service …the hostess Natalie was superb with her attentive and pleasant nature… and along with the rest of the staff I was pleasantly surprised of how warm and welcoming everything felt…it straight up felt like going to abuelas during a family event and having good food with good vibes…i honestly haven’t had such a great dining experience like this in AGES and I HIGHLY recommend this place….if I could give more than 5 stars I would! Excelsior!!!!!! Honorable mention; Watching the “abuela” of the establishment handmaking the acapuria right there by the kitchen was so effin cool and made me feel like this place is as authentic as it comes!!!!!! God I love this place!

Today I ordered Arroz con guandules y chicharron de pollo. It comes with ensalada y pan con ajo'. I love love the Puerto Rican food here. It reminds me of my mother's cooking. The place is very clean, cozy and the staff are very friendly and attentive. There is entertainment (TV) screens and a jukebox that plays the best music. The atmosphere is very appealing with a couple of gentleman at the bar enjoying themselves. This restaurant is a safe and very well maintained establishment. I highly recommend it for a good meal and some nice music with friends and family

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. Music OMG...!!! And the people we met wonderful. After over 2 years of not going out because of covid and breast cancer treatment, this place made our night one to remember. People, you gotta check this out.

Went here for the first time on Friday with my girlfriends. Let me tell you we had an awesome time. The place is great and the food delicious. Had the pleasure to meet Maribel. What a beautiful person she is. We also met her mom who made for us the best Puerto Rican alcapurrias and picadera. Maribel God bless you and your mom. Will definitely be going back and highly recommend your place. If any of you are looking for a nice cozy place with delicious food, go check it out.
