I sat at the bar on a busy friday. Light-up which was nice to see. I'm not gonna lie the building is nicely unkempt, clean, well lit, but it lacks overall ambiance and decor. Could use just a touch of personality. Now, the female bartender was a real character and quick, her male counterpart must have been a but wet behind the ears as he missed all common queues from myself and others seated. Drinks were coming slowly as was service, nothing entirely unacceptable it just could have been a bit quicker on his part. Now- the food- was excellent! Arugula salad was large and filling not skimping out on shaved prosciutto, the two pizzas ordered were perfect. Thinner crust with a nice crunch and not burned to achieve so. The pizzas also came out verybquickpy leading me to believe they know how to handle their ovens. I didn't indulge in any of the specialty cocktails they have but they looked good and well received by everyone around. That might be the only gripe with this place for some- they have only beer, wine, and tequila. I was also a bit curious as to why they had so many taps and only around 1/4 beers available. Either way, it's a good spot to check out and is easily missed.
Drinks were really good. They only do tequila mixed drinks, but also have beer and wine. Bartender was super friendly and helpful. She helped customize it drinks to our individual tastes. I'm pregnant and she made me a delicious non-alcoholic drink. The pizzas were delicious and more than enough for 2 people to share. They will also do a pizza with no cheese for vegans. If you're looking for pizza or margaritas, this is the place to go.
First time there and we were very impressed! The pizza and drinks were top notch! Had 2 different pizzas, craft beer, and an amazing spicy margarita. Can't wait to return!

We visited Coal and Daisies on 10-17-18 after hearing and reading the good reviews... As a pizza lover here is a honest review. (See Photos)
Located in a town with many Pizza options and New haven just 10 mins away the pizza here will hold its own. I feel its as close as you can get to New Haven Pizza without going to Wooster or State St... If you like the thin crispy crust where your fingers get a little black after eating it you will like this pizza. (Photos - 1/2 Mash Potato 1/2 Chicken Cutlet & Mozz with Bacon with 1/2 Sausage) The Mash Potato was our Favorite
The Meatball App with the Focaccia Bread is very good. ( See Photo)
Two Very Fresh Meatballs with Fresh Ricotta and two Focaccia triangles that are the best around IMO. I would go just to order that bread with sauce.
Here are my Pros and Cons
Pros
1. Nicely Renovated Space
2. Thin Crispy Yummy Pizza
3. Food looks and tastes Fresh
4. Focaccia Bread...Amazing!
5. Waitress was very attentive and kept checking in.
Cons
1. Location..Nothing has made it in this location but with good reviews
and advertising they should hopefully do well.
2. Pizza only comes in one 13 inch size. This might be tough on family's
where ordering a Large Pizza to feed everyone is normally economical.
Offering a Larger Size would do well.
3. Limited Menu - Maybe adding Wings or Eggplant Fries would help.
4. Prices are little higher than other Pizza locations in town but not by
much.
5. Sausage is slices not crumbled like we are all pretty much use too
which took away from the taste and texture IMO.

Ordered take-out here during the height of the pandemic. The pizza was excellent (although a little small) and the staff was very friendly. This is a great spot if you live on the Branford coastline.
New Haven grade (A!) pizza in Branford CT, great place hidden on Sycamore drive right by the highway and stop and shop, stop in to try some amazing pies! The salads are great too, buy a shirt, they are of the best quality! Fun family friendly environment. Peter the owner has a passion for making his customers happy, we will always enjoy this unique coal fired pizza as long as they stand here in Branford.
Absolutely a must try! Pete is a great guy, and his descriptions and suggestions of the food and craft beers were spot on! Had a great time, and the food was fantastic! This is the La Chiminea!!
