An incredible meal. Food was absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly cooked meats, powerful flavor, great spice, delicious sauces and seasonings. Perfect meal. One of the best bites you'll have in the city. Cumin lamb, beef dry pot, and szechuan wonton are personal favorite highlights. Service was also extremely friendly, fun and knowledgeable. Very cheap as well.
Ordered Take Out and staff was really nice.
Egg Fried Rice was quite sad. Very plain no soy sauce or other flavorings 😅 just literally egg and rice
Hot and Spicy Fish Fillet was very flavorful but perhaps not the best for takeout. I will dine in next time so the fish stays crispy.
Got takeout but i’ve been there before. Favorites are eggplant and the crispy chicken. The tendon was a bit of a bad deal, didn’t get much beef and mainly tripe. And the double cooked pork was fine but nothing spectacular.
Great food and comfortable seating. We ordered the braised short ribs, tea braised duck, and the appetizer sampler. Service could’ve been better/more attentive.
All these people ragging on the prices might do themselves a favor and arrive before 4 for the lunch specials. I think it's 13.99 for a wide array of lunch dishes. I got the sezchuan twice cooked pork. I do hear what the other reviewers are saying about the saltiness of the dishes. Mine was absolutely soaked in oil to the point of excess but as most of the reviewers can attest, the flavor is strong.
I was feeling like a big spender so I got an iced tea drink, which hit for sure. I think I'll be back next week for a different special for my afternoon job.
The food was great and price is very reasonable during lunch times. But the service is a bit confusing that the staff just took my food away without asking if I’m done. They kept asking if we are finished or not several times.
The lunch special is a really good deal because they give you enough portions of tasty food. However, they were cleaning the windows next booth to us while we were eating and smelling the cleaner.
It is a small place (there is an upstairs also), comfortable, and clean. Nothing fancy. I asked for the General Gaus lunch special, the server stated there was no lunch specials today, it was a Monday so I thought it was odd, but ok. I ordered a full portion, white rice and scallion pancakes.
Everything tasted delicious, no complaints at all. Will definitely will go again. They have a salad bar with all the fixings for Hot Pot, oh yeah!
(4 1/2 stars) Really enjoyed our meal here. The pan fried pork buns were great! The steamed pork dumplings, king pao chicken, and beef with broccoli were all good. Pleasant and clean inside but you still get a bit of the old school feel. Fast service.
Not so many places know how to make Tea Smoke Duck. It's not Peking Duck buy a cousin. The aroma, the saltiness of spices versus the sweet taste of duck meat. If you had never tried one, you didn't know what you had been missing.
The dry selection, by you, of what you want to eat, and how much, is a good concept (sold by weight, pound). The chef will prepare the way you like it. If you were not alone, this is a way to share, your love, and intimacy.
