Local bakery with a small selection of classic pies, macarons, and pastries.
On a serene Saturday morning stroll through JP, I stumbled upon this charming bakery. It had a cozy, small-town bakery vibe, and manning the counter was an elderly lady, whose skilled hands and warm smile hinted at years of perfecting the art of home-style baking.
Since pies seemed to be their specialty, I opted for a small pecan pie along with an assortment of small pastries. The almond croissant was decent, but the pecan pie was exceptional. It was everything a classic pecan pie should be: not excessively sweet, with a moist filling wrapped in a perfectly baked crust. Some of my other favorites included the chocolate cupcake and the halva bomb.
If you're in a mood for the comfort of traditional American pies and homemade pastries, Blue Frog is definitely worth a try.
Have purchased holiday treats from Blue Frog for the past 2 years and they’re always a crowd favorite. Thank you for the work you do! :)
Amazing homemade croissant! Flakey on the outside, buttery layers on the inside. Will definitely be back to try the coffee and some other pastries!
PSA: $5 card minimum and there will be a line on weekends but it moves relatively quick.
2nd visit: Came back and tried the mushroom, onion and cheese quiche. It was great! The crust dough was a little crunchy but the filling was creamy and flavorful. Glad I came back!
Blue Frog never disappoints. There is always something delicious at the counter, or on their loaf shelves! The plain croissant was maybe a little less flaky than I expected but the flavor and texture were delicious. The cranberry scone had a perfect level of sweetness and tartness. I have had a variety of muffins and pastries here, all have been delicious. On my next visit I'll definitely be trying out a baguette and a donut! They only make donuts on the weekends.
Such a cute bakery with amazing baked goods! We bought a cinnamon roll and heated it up and it was a 10/10. If I could eat an almond croissant from here every day I would! The normal croissant is also good but the almond one is on another level. Every time I’ve gone in the workers are always so nice!
I love this little bakery SO much. Easily one of the coolest places in Boston. And their croissants/tarts/pies/BREADPUDDINGS are my downfall... and I mean that in the best way possible.
Got there bright and early, Best almond croissant and best strawberry cheese Danish I’ve had in my life 😍 I wish they had some savory options though (an egg and some bacon on those croissants would slap so hard)
Excellent location and space. Very trendy and delicious baked goods. The coffee is excellent as well. Don’t miss this beautiful JP jewel.
Their scones are an amazing hybrid of a biscuit. Soft and delicious. My go to stop especially because they open at 7:30, before most other bakeries.
I arrived around 7:45am on a Saturday and the display case was filled with absolutely STUNNING pastries and macarons. I got an almond croissant at a great price and the service was warm and friendly. The croissant was huge and delicious with almond flavor (I think marzipan?) throughout.
Things to know: credit card minimum is $5. Bagels aren't ready until about 9am, as they are boiled and baked (as they should be!)
