They have the best hotpot in the town! Truly recommend to that place!
This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. Service and food are top notch. I highly recommend the surf and turf and the Sichuan chili broth.
Fresh, high-quality ingredients with some delicious soup broths - we got Mongolian spicy and tomato veggie. The lamb and salmon were our favorites. Lots of vegetarian options as well.
Went to Shabu Zen for hot pot as a delayed Chinese New Year celebration. On a Saturday night unless you come really early like at 5pm, be prepared for a wait of 30-40 minutes. The service is a little slow and the chatter from patrons can be loud and fills the room. On the positive side, once the food arrives, things move fast. We ordered 3 of the meat combo dishes. The beef, lamb, pork and chicken were of high quality and there were lots of vegetables with each order. They have a good selection of sake and beer and the coconut sorbet was a great way to top off the meal. Parking was hard to find and the small restaurant parking lot fills up fast. All in all it was a very good experience.
This restaurant is a fabulous place to eat Hot Pot. I've been to many, and this is one of the best! Very comfortable, very fresh, tasty food and sauces. You'll enjoy it!!!
Perfectly fine hot pot! Ingredients are fresh enough, selection is wide enough, broth is flavorful enough, and price is good. I do wish they had more exotic meats and seafoods on the menu.
The place is nice and big and has parking which is a plus!
The broths were really good, especially the Tom Yum and Szechuan. The meat is nicely cut, good thickness but I'd prefer a bit more on the portions. We ordered the combo and it came with veggies platter and noodles. Drinks are cute, most of them are really sweet so if you have a sweet tooth, this is for you.
Getting a lot more pricier than when I used to lived in Allston a few years back but still one of the best hot pot restaurant in my opinion. Used to be able to go crazy when I ordered but now I have to carefully order because it can be quite expensive. I usually get the tom yum broth. I also loves the sautéed baby clams and beef tongue appetizer. Watermelon smoothie for drinks.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Came here with a friend to celebrate my 22nd birthday, and their 21st birthday. The staff were super kind, and very helpful. As a picky eater, even I loved their food and kept wanting more! I highly recommend this place, and I look forward to coming back in the future!
Shabuzen, a classic hotpot dinning experience.
Shabuzen is probably the second most expensive hotpot restaurant other than Q-restaurant. For example, one order of tofu comes with 5-7 pieces, and costs $5 to order. As of 05/30/2022, the prices have also gone up a tad. Jumbo meats are now basically ~ $33 a plate.
In terms of quality, it's probably one of the best out there. The kimchi broth is a go to order for soup bases.
I do believe that given the price, there should be more food on the plate. Other than that, everything was pretty good.
Waiters are friendly there is hardly ever a line (except Friday evenings). They have a small parking lot behind the restaurant.
Great food and really nice service!
Giving Shabu-Zen a five star not because it has the best quality of meat BUT the staff here is extremely nice, the restaurant is clean, and the price is so worth it for what you get. I ordered a $22 regular combo set and I was still full beyond dinner time. Definitely recommend dining during lunch time it gets pretty packed during dinner.
