Back to the Shack. I would never have found this place if I had not come with a former graduate and football star from Southern. He said he used to come here all the time while in school. The folks here seemed to remember him and were just as cordial and friendly as could be.
Fried chicken was great as well as the collards. I really liked the ham flavor and a little vinegar to wake them up. My friend had some chitterlings that were a little off though and he lost them later on (no details, thank you very much). Even the waitress mentioned that she was not that fond of them herself. Mr. football had a plate full of wings and never looked up once.
Small neighborhood restaurant that one can understand why the students like it with reasonable prices and so close to the university.
The food was excellent. Pork chop sandwich with yams!! It was all delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Food is fyah. Good home cooking, no excellent.

Ethel's is a great place to go and eat there food is amazing. love the fish and fries and smothered pork chops in gravy. corn and yams omg so to die for and don't forget the people they is so loving and kind and sweet. Ethel's is like my home away from home especially when i don't want to cook.
This restaurant had fabulous home cooking. A great place for takeout. The restaurant is very plain and old fashioned on the inside, but it was clean, friendly and welcoming.
Shrimp Etouffee was delicious! Cornbread tastes like grandma use to make! Fried fish and french fries A+. I just didn't like their yams :-(
Awesome!! Best smothered pork chop I’ve ever had. Served with red beans and rice & Mac and cheese. Good home cooking.
