Tried them for the first time this past Friday evening and must say the food itself is pretty darn tasty.
Sat at the bar. Never have seen like AND lemon margarita's separate but their house ones have just that. House marg on rocks did not impress. Wife ordered a second one, frozen lime and mango. Liked it much better.
Shrimp Diabla with grilled veggies and Tamales with a Shrimp Poblano were our entree selections.
My tamales were very good with each having a different sauce. Lots of meat inside which is usually not the case for tamales. The tomatillo sauce was fab. Shrimp Poblano also delivered with lots of filling.
Wife's Diabla was spicy enough but a couple of burned shrimp. Grilled veggies a nice twist to beans
Overall service was above board and the ambience suited too. In my opinion the food here is superior to........well, the place down the road.
A return visit is in order for sure.
Like this place, not TexMex so it's a little different. Love their chips and salsa. Good sweet tea. Service is always good, food comes out quick. Good atmosphere.
Just my fiance and I, it took a while to get a server, but once he came along out his way friendly. He was very quick to get our drinks, chips & salsa, refills came when needed. The food was GREAT, chips & salsa were good. I had the carne asada which was very flavorful and tender. I'd recommend here, this was our first time in a while, but pleasantly surprised.
This place is amazing! Great service, tasty margaritas, one of the best salsas I've ever tasted and LOVE their patio!
Best queso in baton rouge. I've noticed every other Mexican restaurant I've ever been to has at one point or another, watered down the queso dip in attempt to stretch it out. La Caretta is the *only* place that has never, ever done that...and being a queso lover, that is one of the reasons I love this place
The shrimp fajitas are one of my favorite dishes there...also the shrimp monterrey dinner.
Usually get decent service here. Margaritas are pretty darn good too.
Good food, good service, great enchiladas and awesome bean soup. Music essentially uniformly loud and awful, but it's a good restaurant when the awful bands aren't there.
Interesting. We had my sister's bachelorette party and I was a little hesitant to host it here but they accomadated our party in a private room and it was FANTASTIC...we got as loud as we wanted!! No flaws, they were really prepared and I was worry free! I ordered their new drink the "Mexican Disaster" for my sister and it was quite interesting,..the beer gives this margarita a really fresh fizz. The food was quite delicious, we had the duck quesadillas and shrimp ceviche, the food came out quickly and well presented. Overall I would recommend La Carreta to anyone who is throwing a big party, or just going to eat there!!!
Amazing!. I had dinner there on Friday night and dared myself to order the Mexican Disaster! Let me just tell you, it was AWESOME!! Margarita and Beer...its like peanut butter and jelly! Who would've ever thought that?!?!?! The La Carreta queso, might be the best I've ever had! The waitress was super friendly, very attentive, they had a great atmosphere, and it was just an awesome experience!
Food has really gone downhill since it opened. While still okay table fare my money is better spent at restaurants with similar food for lower prices that tastes better. Three strikes and this one is out.
Awesome Food & Service. I absolutely LOVE "La Carreta's" .... Their food is always great and consistant. Their service is excellant and their owners and management team members are friendly and acknowledge you graciously when they recognize you as a return customer . Their Margarita's are wonderful and the overall value is fantastic! If you have not tried them .... you need to!!!!
The cucumber monitor is to die for. I ordered Saul's favorite as my entree and loved it. A word of warning The beans in the burritos are a paste not whole beans, it might not be for everyone. The steak and eggs were well done and the white corn tortillas tasted like the real thing. Would recommend this establishment if you are in the area.
I've been here twice now. I absolutely love their cauliflower tacos. During my first visit, which was back in June, they had buffalo chicken tacos which were also delicious. Unfortunately those were for a limited time, but hopefully they'll bring them back. I've only been here for the tacos, so I can't say how the other food is. The margaritas and chips & salsa were good as well. The first pic is from my first visit during June, the last taco is the buffalo chicken. You can also view it better on the plate across from mine, first taco.
The second pic is my most recent visit on November 30th. The other tacos pictured are the steak and cauliflower. The margarita was strawberry I believe. I originally had another flavor, but it was watery so I switched it for the one pictured.
The best street corn. The beef nachos were really good. And I always have to get the duck empanadas
I went here on Cinco de Mayo. Had a blast. It was extremely busy. We were at a table within an hour. They had a live band and the daiquiris were generous. Had the cauliflower tacos. They were delicious. Definitely will return.
Came here about a week ago for my Mother’s birthday dinner and it was such a fun experience and the food was absolutely delicious! Our server Tunnar (? Sorry if I misspelled your name!!) was absolutely wonderful and bought me one of the best drinks I’ve ever tasted! He was absolutely wonderful and made us laugh all night, thank you for a lovely experience!!!
Great happy hour, different flavor margaritas, can't go wrong with any one, food is ok if you're just looking for a snack while enjoying your margaritas. Great atmosphere & wonderful service. I recommend, it's worth trying at least once
Great place, the service was outstanding. I enjoy everything about this restaurant.
Food is average to better than average. The queso keeps us coming back. Quick service. Clean. Reasonable prices.
