We stopped by here early evening with the kids for dinner. We had 2 Fajita Bravas, 2 quesadillas and a kid's menu burger. All the food was great and service was good. The salsa was wonderful... it's just how it's made here. The 2 for 1 draft beer was served in a frozen mug and really hit the spot. Everyone was stuffed and we needed 3 boxes. Our second time here and we will be back. Con: Window blinds need replacing or serious cleaning. Don't forget to "like" my reviews!
Really Good, and I am not usually fond of Mexican Restaurants. There are few Mexican Restaurants I really want to eat at (I should say Tex-Mex). Most of them have canned salsa that I have to add Pico de Gallo to help it. Bagged stale chips. Sides of beans are usually tasteless canned sludge and the rice is dry. WELL NOT HERE!!!! I have eaten here twice in the last two months just to make sure the first time wasn't a fluke. I have eaten Mexican food in California, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, etc. and I can honestly say that this is one of the top three for taste I enjoyed. The building is not prepossessing at all but my wife and I were really hungry while we were there for a business trip and took a chance. The usual decorations, fiesta stuff and beer signs. Some of the furniture was a little shabby and worn, but the food made the trip worthwhile. WE WILL BE RETURNING!
All Time and Long Time Favorite. I've been a faithful customer to El Rancho for about 10 years now. The staff are all family and very wonderful. This is probally the only place where i've have absolutly everything on the menu. REAL mexican food for a extremely good price. I cant say one negative thing about the place. The liquor is priced extremely well. The happy hour specials are probally the best deal in town quality wise.

I just left this restaurant, and I had to make an urbanspoon account just to leave it a good review. Great food, big portions for small amounts of money, and friendly, attentive wait service. I would pay it a visit next time I'm in the area. Atmosphere is great. Recommended to anyone who wants nice Mexican food for a decent price.
Overall Pretty Decent. I think that the food here is pretty good. The service is suitable, and the prices are reasonable. I agree that the salsa is sub-par, but I would still recommend El Rancho.

Really GOOD Mexican food.. El Rancho is really good Mexican food. The food is always fresh and plentiful and you just cannot beat the price. If you want it cooked a special way or sans salt, just ask. They will accomodate! The establishment is just so charming and the staff is really good. Fantastic lunch specials every day. BEST sopapillas in town. Our family dines here regularly.
In a city with few good Mexican places - el rancho is a welcome exception. Good fresh fast & plentiful.
Got the 2 tacos, rice and beans dinner. Not a fan of rice, so I got double beans. Everything was hot, fresh, tasty and hasn't changed a bit - haven't been in many years. Super clean and the service was fast, efficient and friendly. Chips and salsa come with the meal - always a plus!
Before Covid my husband and I visited this restaurant often. We went back last month and enjoyed it so much we made a second trip 2 weeks later.
The food here is always good, and the prices are decent. They have a new and expanded menu that will have you debating what to get, as you will have more than one favorite here.
The margaritas are two for one always and is a nice perk! They are a great way to enhance your meal if you like them.
Family atmosphere with a mexican flare make this restaurant a favorite among both kids and adults. Our waitress was very attentive and enjoyable. We will be back soon!
Finally, a place in Baton Rouge that knows what and how to fix Mexican food! After living in Texas, Louisiana knows nothing about authentic Mexican food until we found this place. Even the people spent Spanish there. Hopefully it stays in business a long time...
Absolutely delicious! Big portions!! Food was great add a little Chile habanero for and extra kick. 🌶 Margaritas are extremely good. Staff was friendly!
The food was excellent including the salsa. I cannot remember the server's name. But, she was very good. If you leave there hungry...it's your own fault. You get a lot of food.
