Our family loves eating at the Cove! The atmosphere is really laid back, the staff is nice, food comes out fast and it's full of flavor. Definitely recommend this Hawaiian spot to anyone looking for a fresh hot island inspired meal!
Favorite dish: Spicy chicken bowl and the Big Kahuna burger
I've been living in Baton Rouge for at least 4 years and searching for Korean food the whole time to no avail. Just this week, a stranger on Facebook told me to try The Cove because they had bulgogi and a few other Korean dishes. I rushed out the very next day to give it a try, and I was NOT disappointed! I had their bulgogi and kalbi combo with macaroni salad (I guess that's a Hawaiian dish?) and steamed rice with an appetizer of yakimondo. It was absolutely delicious! The meat was perfectly marinated and had a nice, charred grill flavor. The steamed rice was perfectly cooked and had all the flavor I remember from eating dinner with my Korean friends growing up. This brought back so many memories and tickled a spot in my taste buds that loves to be ticked! :)
I got the two meat platter with kalbi & spicy chicken and the steamed rice & mac salad as sides. Everything was AMAZING and both meats were perfectly seasoned and tender. Although this will be my favorite, I want to try other things on the menu! Great food and great service!
Got the 2-meat platter with short rib and katsu. It was so delicious! The macaroni salad flavor didn't really match with the sweetness of the 2 meats, but it was still good! No complaints about the platter, it was satisfying.
The bulgogi fries on the hand, were absolutely atrocious, I'm not sure if I want to take 1 or 2 stars off for it.
It was unsalted fries with a bit of bulgogi and cheese slapped on top... And then microwaved so that the cheese melts. That's it. I would've expected better for $7. Just sharp cheddar did not taste good on top of the bulgogi.
I love this place. Small and quiet with great tasting food. Simple menu and run by the owner's. The spicy chicken wrap is my favorite. The waffle fries are nice touch.
I tried the cove platter and found the food to be delicious. I noticed a steady flow of customers as well. Friendly s ef rvice and restaurant was clean. I look forward to returning and trying the Maui Burger
Good prices, but just overall sufficient food. The pork katsu was very tasty and juicy, but everything else I ordered kind of let me down. The chicken was borderline dry and I had to use the katsu sauce to make it better. The steamed vegetables (which was just broccoli with one slice of carrot) was literally just steamed with no seasoning, and then the macaroni salad was a disappointment. I was looking forward to that the most, but it was watery and plain.
Overall, just come for the katsu.
You're gonna wanna eat here. Great tasty tender protein choices with streamed veggies over fluffy rice with sauce choices. Friendly staff who remembers everyone that comes in and what they like. Delicious menu, you gotta try it.
Tried the Cove last night and man was it good! I’m so happy that I can come here now and get some good food. Owner and employee were so nice. I had the bulgogi and short rib plate, and the spam musubi, my husband had the pork katsu and spicy chicken plate.
