I was craving fajitas and didn't even know this place existed, even though it's close by my house and has been there for five years. So I gave it a shot.
Very clean and inviting interior, water was served in a cool metal cup, music was in Spanish, fresh warm chips with an unusual and tasty salsa...good signs.
The menu has great variety, but I was here for one thing, and I feel like fajitas are a solid gauge of a Mexican restaurant's abilities; it's not hard to do them right, but a lot of places overcharge and underdeliver.
The following items arrived without much delay: a plate of fresh tortillas; a bowl featuring small dollops of rice, beans, Pico de Gallo and sour cream; a sizzling platter of sliced beef with peppers and onions.
These fajitas were pretty delicious, and there's enough ingredients to make four stuffed fajitas. The beef was not overcooked; it was tender, plentiful and gently seasoned. I think the dish is worth the $18.
I would have liked a green element, perhaps some shredded lettuce or even a touch of guacamole. The beans, rice and Pico were all pretty standard, though slightly lacking in seasoning.
It's a friendly, family-run spot that deserves more attention and another visit to explore more of the menu.
Was just looking for a quick spot to eat and was lucky to stumble upon this gem. Extremely friendly service and the enchiladas are fantastic. Were very willing to do special orders for more vegan options for my friend. Nice drink selection too, mimosa really hit the spot on a hot day. Will definitely be back.
Cute little spot for some great food! Service was amazing and very friendly. Highly recommend!
We were going crazy trying to find a Mexican restaurant around the area and I am so happy that we found this place because OMG the food is amazing! The place is average sizeabd it has plenty of seating inside and on a deck as well. The waiter was very attentive and explained some of the menu items. The food came out quick and everything was fresh, everything had so much flavor and my favorite was the pozole Verde, OMG to die for!!! So sad I don't live here but I will definitely be back!
We were here in Christmas Eve because there wasn’t any other restaurant open.
We were lucky to find this great place. As Mexicans, we were skeptical because we thought it would be a Tex-Mex restaurant. However, this is what a typical Mexican restaurant looks like in Mexico. This restaurant doesn’t try to “look” Mexican with all the crazy decorations.
We enjoyed the food and the service.
1) The beef fajitas were amazing. 5/5
2) I would order chicken instead of ground beef for the fajitas. I thought they were a bit greasy and have me heartburn afterwards. 4/5
3)The guacamole didn’t have jalapeños, lime and it needed a bit of salt. 4/5
4) The rice and beans weren’t hot. They were OK, but by the time we were halfway done, the rice and beans were cold. I think they could have been hotter. 3/5
Other than that the food was great. I would definitely come back.
We came for dinner and were surprised to see no one dining in! The restaurant owner was super nice and friendly. She seated us and made some great recommendations. We ended up sharing one Queso Flameado w/ veggies for appetizer and one flan for dessert. I got the La Margarita salad w/ beef for entree, while my partner got the vegetarian enchiladas.
Their queso is the best & most authentic I've ever had! Super dense and thick, very rich, packed with flavors and vegetables (tomatoes, mushrooms etc)! It paired perfectly with either the provided flour tortilla or the complementary chips.
La Margarita salad w/ beef - it's called salad, but it was gigantic and loaded with a good variety of very filling ingredients - chorizo, beans, corns, cheese, and rice. Given its portion, I could not believe how cheap it is ($9 w/o meat). It's a great entree either on its own or with meat added. The dressing was amazing too.
Corn Flan - simply amazing! Perfect level of sweetness and richness. You can taste the corn kernel in the flan - feels holistic.
The restaurant owner told us about the other location of Hecho En Mexico. She said the menus are fairly different for the two locations, because they try their best to accommodate the demographic nearby. I found that very thoughtful.
The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. The interior decor was simple yet modern. I can see it being a great place for both a quick lunch and a relaxing dinner with families and friends.
Would love to check out the other location next time!
This place had my taste buds dancing. I had the lunch special, enchiladas de mariscos - Seafood enchiladas. Wow, they were delicious! Served with black beans and Spanish rice. Normally I’m not a fan of black beans but these were very good not chalky. The rice was full of flavor and fresh carrots and peas. I’m looking forward to going back!!!
The waitress was super friendly and explained the food and flavors.
The menu has bites of what wines would pair with each entree.
This is a nice little place that deserves more lunch traffic.
Judging by the location and the small and limited parking spaces, I get the idea that this eatery's real design was to serve the row of townhouses it sits in front of.
But don't let that stop you from giving it a try.
I was one of the few customers enjoying lunch here, and two of the others appeared to be small groups having lunch meetings.
Small and very well kept with subtle Spanish music quietly playing in the background.
I was a little disappointed when I heard the waitress open a soda can when I ordered my drink, but that's about the only negative thing I would have to say about Henco En Mexico.
The wait staff is friendly and quick to offer refills on the chips and salsa. The food is fresh, hot and very tasty.
This will be my go to place whenever I'm in the area and looking for a quiet, out of the way lunch spot.
I can’t say enough good things about this place, I have been coming to Echo en Mexico since 2015 when I started going to the William Cannon location, since the opening of the Montopolis location this has been our go to for the best margarita south Austin has to offer, not to mention the food is top notch! From their appetizers to the different moles and enchiladas you cannot go wrong with anything you pick on the menu! Desserts are simply delicious and my favorites are the Flan, house Tres Leches and the Crepes. I simply love them, the staff is courteous, attentive and friendly and the chef Mario takes such pride in his food which you can taste. I would rate them 10/10. Oh btw try the happy hour you will not be disappointed :)
I can't believe more people aren't at this place. The service was fantastic, and the food was amazing. I am the only table here, but I will come back each time I'm in town. The 3 enchiladas with 3 different moles was a great and tasty experience. I've never seen or tried a white moles before.
