I used to live in North Austin 20yrs ago. Taco Shack became my go-to for breakfast when I moved here. 20yrs later, I come back to visit Taco Shack and the breakfast tacos still taste amazing ❤️
Great breakfast tacos. I order The Texan and a Bacon Egg and Cheese taco. The order was prepared fast, but it took quite a while to get my card back. The lady at the window received a complaint on a phone call. I could hear the whole conversation which was a little uncomfortable. Then when she hung up, she started to complain to her coworkers how it was the other person’s fault, not hers. I thought that was pretty tacky. Also, while I waited I watched a lady sneeze on the food she was preparing. I’m not going to give lower stars on that because I already had my food with me so it wasn’t in harm’s way. Maybe some health safety and customer service education needs to be had with the employees.
**Update: the manager was quick to contact me and try to resolve the issue. I’m changing my 3 star to 4 star because of the promptness.
Sooo, I used to LOVE Taco Shack, and I guess I still do, but this particular location seems pretty sad.
Walking in, it just looked dirty everywhere, and the employees that I was able to see were in no rush to be of service and looked like they definitely did not want to be there. Understandable in this day and age, I guess.
I suppose the worst part of this one experience was the gentleman in front of me, who had obviously been waiting "too long", went to get a fountain soda, and informed the staff that the ice coming out was dirty. Having worked over seven years in the restaurant industry in Austin, I don't doubt that the dispenser was probably gross up inside, though I did not see it for myself. After he informed staff, there was no offer to get him clean ice or anything, and the employees seemed pretty disinterested in doing anything about it.
In my eyes, this is a reflection of bad store management and/or policy.
I won't be going back to this location.
Cool little taco place that offers great breakfast tacos at very reasonable prices and good sized portions! Though I would recommend only getting one breakfast taco. Unless you are really hungry, then get two. They are quite big tacos and fully loaded, which makes me more aware of what kind I should get next time. I will definitely be returning!
Finally went when this place was open. I’ve been driving past it for years and thought it was closed.
I got breakfast and it looked and tasted like it had just been made fresh in someone’s home. Haha, it was so good!
Will definitely be coming back.
Great food, price is ok, got the bevo burrito, it was amazing, good food portion, and great taste, also had the brisket with egg taco, only thing to highlight was the counter attention perhaps they were not having a good day other than that totally recommended.
Classic Austin charm with fast service and good food at reasonable prices. Extra points for being locally owned and operated.
Has to be one of my favorite breakfast taco places, for sure! Always love a good potato egg and cheese taco, and this time tried the fruit cup. Everything is delicious! We sat outside at the patio & it was a perfect day to eat & visit with friends. Love this place! Always the freshest ingredients, always!
