I visited Darna's with a group (my family) and we had a fabulous time here. The food was authentic with amazing flavors and freshly made. The interior was tastefully decorated and you felt like you were literally having a meal in Morocco. The owner, Ghizlane came and talked to us. You could hear the passion she has for cooking and hospitality when you speak to her. She was friendly and very accommodating and was open for feedback. I loved the fact she was very concerned about people's food preferences and their dietary requirements. She had even gone to length of creating a special rice bowl dish for this purpose. This was one of the best places I have visited for Mediterranean food in the US. I have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone living or visiting in Austin. Another plus is it's a BYOB restaurant. I enjoyed all the dishes as you can taste the authentic Moroccan spices. Due to the size of our group, we were able to try many dishes out, a few of my favorites were, Zaalouk (eggplant), Moroccan Olives, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Darna Mixed Grill, Spicy Chicken & Olive Tagine, Chicken Lemon Tagine and Lamb Tagine with Prunes, Kofta Tagine, Fish Tagine and Couscous. We finished our meal with some Moroccan cookies (perfect in sweetness) along with some Turkish coffee. Highly recommend this place for those who love to try authentic food with a great ambiance. Loved the fact the owner took pride in great service along with warm hospitality. Thank you for an amazing experience at your place. Look forward to visiting Darna again when I am in Austin.
Tried this on the weekend. Good food and service. Had 4 different dishes we tried. Beef and lamb shawarma were done well. Large portion sizes with no appetite for desert. Service was excellent even though there was one wait staff.
Food, service and atmosphere are great. Royal couscous for two could easily serve four. This is authentic Moroccan.
Also recommend the hot tea.
First time here. Location is near the Texas State Capitol building.
Service was very polite and informative.
I had the couscous with lamb. The meat was tasty with a hint of spice. Not over powering. Good.
Delicious food, great atmosphere. Range in pricing, dinner can be anywhere from 11 - 28 a plate. Very knowledgeable staff.
First time dining here and it was a delight. We ordered the Shawarma Trip and the Gyro salad, which both offered a very satisfying amount of protein. The Turkish coffee and the Moroccan coconut ball dessert were a great way to end the meal. The staff served us in a timely manner with wonderful service.
Wonderful service and incredible prices for the portion sizes. This has to be one of the better kept secrets of Austin - and am surprised I am just now making it to this place.
Do yourself a favor and run to this restaurant quietly tucked away in downtown Austin.
My first time here, love this place! The decor is so pretty. Food was excellent. We are vegetarians, and they have quite a few options. They have coffee too, including Turkish coffee. If you’ve never had it & like trying unique coffee, get yourself one. We’ll definitely be back. Also, the pita is made in house!
Very good Moroccon dishes in Austin. The serving is huge and good to share.
Excellent food! Great atmosphere, service was average.
