Been coming here for over ten years so here is what you need to know:
Clean restrooms for both men and women with plenty of outlets and free wifi, meeting room, seating, and comfy sofas.
Also calming Middle Eastern sofi relaxed kind of music all day with no echoing of people talking like some places so great place to come finish work and go.
Does even have a fireplace durong the winter although I have never seen them use it!
Also lots of paintings and unique memories get out up here!
Now for why no five stars from me:
Customer service has been hit or miss over the years and almost different people every time I come here over the last ten years.
Most have been just chill and neutral, hard to have any conversations with, and always seem cold or not to care.
Food sandwiches, teas, and smoothies I will take a pass on, not the worst but definitely not worth the money I have paid
On the other hand the Monkey original acai bowl and coffee are legit, not a fan of the creamers or milk they use here so stick straight to black.
I try to order each time I come here.
Also parking just plain sucks and is hit or miss here and literally nearly wrecked my vehicle with pot holes on t he entrance coming in or nearly getting hit by the traffic from Papa John's pizza next door so be warned and careful getting in and out of here on north oumd lane of North Lamar! :p
P.s.
They also have random board games, a printer you can use, yes a printer you can pay to use!
This is a great coffee shop for day to day remote work. I came around 5pm and it was quiet and had plenty of seating. I ordered the hibiscus tea and was happy with it after adding a little sweetener haha.
We reserved the The Nest at Monkey Nest Coffee for our work event this morning. Alex helped me organize the whole event and followed through with everything we talked about. The Nutty Irishman was so delicious! We also had a variety of their breakfast items, everything tasted fresh and homemade. The room was perfect for our meeting of 20 people and the atmosphere was very inviting. Thank you for everything!
Didn’t really like the place the first time I came in as I ordered the Thai Coffee and it was different from what I’ve had before (too much spice but it’s subjective). Decided to give it another try and ordered the Nutty Irishman and Mocha through Grub Hub, and those drinks were so good. Long story short, the Nutty Irishman is now one of my favorite drinks here. I’ve also tried their Thai Tea which is very good as it’s not too sweet like other places, and the affogato is also very yummy. The decorations are very cute, too. Will definitely come back.
I've been asked many times about where one should get coffee, so I've made it an effort to try more spots. I recently came to Monkey Nest and damn, they have a good selection of specialty coffees to choose from! I got the:
- Wildflower Lavender Latte: wildflower honey and lavender latte. For the person who likes something more herbal and light, this is for you! I'm not the biggest lavender enthusiast, but it was done nice and balanced here. ($4.99 for large) - 4/5
- Monkey's Uncle: peanut butter, chocolate, and banana. Imagine a chocolate dipped banana, but in coffee form! That's what this tasted like and damn it is SO GOOD!! The banana isn't artificial tasting either, so no worries there. This easily is one of my new favorite coffees in town! Must try!! ($4.99 for large) - 4.75/5
All in all, I am very satisfied with Monkey Nest. I'm a sweet drinker, so I'm highly satisfied with the vast amount of specialty coffees to choose from. I will definitely be back soon to try more! With all that said, I give them a 4.5/5 for being amazing!
Literally such a cute place.
Our server .... he was a charmer. Them pigtails are on point hon. I had $4 tea and my son had a big double shot coffee. It was pretty good.
Bathrooms are clean! Unheard of in SA! Yall get it!
Next time I'm in the area we will be back.
Amazing chai tea latte and moist spinach feta quiche.
This coffee shop had a lot of parking available. Great atmosphere to enjoy coffee with friends while catching up. Plenty of seating inside. The hot wildflower lavender latte was very good. It was not overly sweet.
Chill coffee shop. I needed a place to crash for the day and do some work, and Monkey Nest was perfect. Comfortable and not crowded, and the food is pretty good. Friendly, low-key service.
Tried
Spicy monkey mocha hot (bcoz someone in reviews said you’re not from ATX if you haven’t tried lol 😂) well it tasted good.
Chicken 🐣 wrap -> good
Overall
Taste -> good
