Pok-E-Jos's BBQ is a win! Restaurant is clean, staff is helpful and friendly. I've been coming here for years and love it. The service is great. They have a bar of condiments for pairing with your BBQ. And of course sweet tea!
Also I used their catering a year ago and it was amazing. My favorite things are the ribs and sides.
Staff is always friendly here, and you get plenty of food for your money - the BBQ is highly underrated given the price, and the sides are fresh and tasty. If you're hungry, this is a great place. They certainly don't skimp on the portion sizes!
Had the brisket platter with jalepeño cornbread casserole and fried okra. Also came with Texas toast. Brisket was very moist; a thin layer of fat (not surprising - it is BBQ), which I could trim off for a leaner portion. Cornbread casserole was a little light on jalepeños, but I could add more from the condiment bar. Very good, with lots of whole kernel corn. Okra was fresh, so very crunchy batter! (I like more cornmeal in the batter, but this was quite good.) Toast was very flavorful. Very large portions of the sides.
Went late Sunday, so it wasn't crowded. Not noisy (yeah!); TVs on, but muted.
I enjoyed my three meat plate. Even got to watch the basketball tournaments. A little pricey, but we'll worth it. Try the mac and cheese.
Great service, and staff, love there brisket and bbq sauce
My first experience with Texas barbeque. Really good food. Workers were really cool and relatable. Huge portions.
Amazing food! We have several family members who are gluten free. What a relief to find
a restaurant with such a varied and delicious menu which they could enjoy.
Exceptional service and attention to detail!
We recently hosted an 80th birthday party at Fern Bluff Community Center.
Gerald helped us with the menu and took care of all the details!
His calm demeanor put us completely at ease.
The crew arrived on time, set everything up and we were good to go!
Best barbecue I've had in a long while. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, which we all know is critical to any good barbecue. Mac and cheese- perfect. Green bean casserole- perfect. Brisket- perfect. Sausage- perfect. Ribs- perfect. Even the Texas toast was impossible to put down. Perfectly toasted and buttered. Excellent service too. The butcher picked the best meat to slice and gave generous portions. This is my new barbecue spot!
I hadn't been here in a really long time. Like 10 years long time. My husband loves BBQ, but the kids and I are not big fans. so our requirement when we eat barbecue is that it has to have something else for the rest of us to eat, and PoK-e-Jo's definitely fits that criteria. Really nice staff, clean restaurant, and convenient location. It's not high end BBQ, but it's good and makes everyone happy.
I was in austin on a business trip and looking for quick lunch. This place was a quick and easy stop. I was surprised to see the service was quick as well. Fresh food, nice environment with great service. The staff were all friendly and seemed to recognize some regulars. My sausage sanwich was delicious and made up the difference for the downpour of rain outside. I'll surely visit again when in town.
