I am thoroughly impressed with this place. We drove all the way from the far south side because I am pregnant and had a craving for authentic Mediterranean food. This was our first visit. Outside looked like nothing special but once you walk into the door, you are transported to a little Morrocan oasis. The atmosphere was beautiful! From a beautiful wall mural, vibrant red rugs and wall tapestries to Morrocan hanging lanterns and a few authentic floor seating areas where you kick off your shoes and sit on cushions and pillows. It was lovely!
Right away, you could tell that service was friendly. Drinks were filled immediately and the warm pita was non stop. The selection was large and there was something for everyone. Not to mention this is a vegetarian's heaven! The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft in the center. It paired wonderfully in a pita with veg and tzatziki sauce. My husband had a dinner plate we can't recall the name of. A mixture of meats on rice and a gyro on the side. He is normally very hard to impress while dining out. When we left, he agreed we had to go back again soon. Not something he says often! He really liked it! Both of my kids were more quiet than usual because they were eating instead of talking! We had no room for dessert though the baklava on the menu sounded delicious! I guess we will order that first next time!
Let's talk about hummus. Normally hummus can be very bland wherever you go. Not here. It was flavorful & served with warm pita. The prices were amazing. A person can have their fill on a dinner plate for $9.99!! Sandwiches were under $7 and large! A couple bucks gets you a nice appetizer. A person on a small budget can leave with leftovers! They had pizza too, if that's your thing but I encourage you to explore their authentic dishes. I saw lunch special signs all over too, if you've got the time in your work day to swing by, you should.
Awesome place! We will be repeat customers for sure despite the distance from our home. Whoever is running this place is doing a fantastic job. One of the gentleman who came to our table said his mom decorated the place after I asked about the lanterns. I wonder if it's a family business. If so, they're doing it right!
The best meat pizza I've ever eaten so far. Ive tried their other pizzas but hands down for their all meat eater pizza. One of my fav place for pizzas amd their entree platters are great too .
This place was good. The staff was friendly and suggested some good choices. We ordered pizzas, gyro plate, boneless chicken plate, and wings.
Everything we tried was quite delicious. I just wish that we couldn't try other Mediterranean dishes, they all looked good.
I would def go here again. Also, they have a place outside to pray, a huge plus.
Nice place with a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. Love the floor seating area and the staff is courteous and quick to serve the food.
The food itself, has room for improvement. For instance, the starters (Hummus w bread) were cold and the Hummus was runny. We ordered an extra side of Hummus w bread and it was the same. The shawarma dishes were good, could improve the flavor but more. The falafel were very tasty, served piping hot and the sauce was flavorful.
All in all, a good place to host large parties.
Food was tasty, staff nice and helpful, and atmosphere cozy and welcoming. We got the tea (which is some of the best I've had), Vegetarian Plate, Arpeggio Mesa plate, pistachio baklava, and cream baklava. All good and look forward to returning to try more!
Solid local Mediterranean spot. I have been coming here for years and am sure I will be coming back for many more.
I got the shawarma trio, the lemon chicken soup, and the babaganoush. Loved the platter (I got no rice extra veggies) and enjoyed the babaganoush (found it to be light and mildly Smokey) but could not eat the soup I had been reassured had no rice. It had a lot of rice. What I did eat I loved. I also love the unlimited self serve hot tea!
Apparently you need to call ahead to reserve the floor pillow seats. Oh well. That would have been fun. They said reserved but no one ever came and used them.
The parking can be a challenge due to construction on the road - but once you are in the lot you are usually fine. If there are no spots there probably is not room in the restaurant.
Be careful here if you have dietary restrictions - they mean well but often are not able to answer or help if you have dietary needs. You need to be able to advocate for your own needs. They will do their best - but they are not experts in this.
This is a wonderful local owned and run spot. No frills but solid.
The food is pretty good, although somewhat pricey. I was very disappointed by the pita bread, it was thin, dry, and hard, and not much of a taste to it. Everything else that I tried was really good quality though. The space inside is really nice and they even have a lounge area with cushions and a coffee table where you can sit and relax. I do recommend the lunch special, as that is a pretty good deal and you get more options to choose as sides.
My wife and I love Greek food. We were staying overnight not far from this restaurant. It was a bit confusing as how to order. There were two places, one which served lunch options, even though it was almost 5 pm. My wife ordered at that spot. I wanted to try the Greek salad and the gyro plate, so I ordered at a different spot. The drinks were available at the very back of the restaurant, almost out of sight. We were pleased with the food. The lamb is very tasty. Two issues I had, the Greek salad was loaded with green bell peppers and the pita bread was very thin and hard. It was our first time to have pita that way and to have so many peppers on any salad. I enjoyed the meal but will try another Greek restaurant to compare next visit to Austin.
Very accommodating service with very fresh food at very reasonable prices. Very filling. What other "very" qualifications can I use?
There was a warm dish filled with falafels yet at the request of one of our colleagues an order of 10 falafels was prepared freshly without a murmur. Ditto for chicken wings.
Absolutely delighted with my dining experience at this restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and attentive staff set the tone for a fantastic evening. The menu offered an impressive array of delectable dishes, each beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The chef's creativity truly shines through in every bite. The impeccable service and thoughtful recommendations from the staff added to the overall delight. A definite must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional culinary adventure. Can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal
In a sketchy looking strip center, but the inside of the restaurant is such a warm space. Very clean, very friendly, very fast. And the food was good portions without being too expensive, and tasted fantastic. 😋
I love this place! It's been here since 2005 and offers a delicious slice of old school Austin hospitality and great Mediterranean food at a huge value. Refreshingly 'real' straight ahead menu, my favorite: falafel salad. But I'm looking forward to trying their pizza, and other delicious offerings. I'm becoming a regular here because the people running the show are as personable as the falafel is light and scrumptious! It feels so good to support family businesses like this! And while I love a tony, luxurious dining experience as much as the next person, I am super grateful places like Arpeggio Grill still exist.
