First time here. Never heard of it before. Tried the punnany mixed wrap, it was enough for lunch & dinner. Wonderful mixture of Kale, red onions, couscous, bell pepper, etc., with a sweet & spicy flavor. I'm sold on eating raw. Nice atmosphere, very cordial customers, many regulars from all over the city. Artwork of local artist adorn the walls, rich colors accent the walls. Very knowledgeable, personable, proficient staff. I'll visit West End more often.
Tassili is conducting raw food classes now & she's been on several panels speaking about raw food. Enjoyed her presentation at Sevananda on Sunday, the recipes she prepared were very tasty. Check her out when you're at the West end & pick up a t-shirt.
Picked up a bottle of ginger beer at the mystic fair at tassili's raw reality cafe, not as good as the one I picked up at the collard green festival.
The spicy kale salad is the best kale I have ever put in my mouth. You can't beat $11 for a full plate of raw yumminess - amazing.
Living food with soul. This place is in the West End across the street from the Wren's Nest. I don't live in this area of town and it took about an hour to get there, but this non-cooking is well worth it. The house looks dingy on the outside, but it has soul on the inside. So far the people who work there have been very nice to me (this is a huge improvement over Lovin It Live where I got treated with contempt. I left hungry and I will never go back there.) You have to park a couple of buildings away and walk over so you don't get towed. The coconut cream corn with couscous is sweet and delicious. The okra is fresh and flavorful. I've had the spicy kale salad twice and both times it was good--once it was super hot and once it was not as hot. I liked it both ways. I had a nori roll and it was just amazing. There are different items every time you go so don't count on a favorite to be there--just try something new and love it all. The only real disappointment has been that there are no raw desserts any time I've been. Vegan desserts, but not raw. So, please have desserts more consistently Tassili and that will make your place perfect. Is this food organic? I wondered because the prices are so reasonable. That is important to most of us raw foodists. One more really good point: this food is filling, unlike other raw food places. You will feel full and be totally satisfied and healthy. Go! And tell your friends! Live and love longer and be healthier. Eat at Tassili's.
