While the food I ate was delicious, getting it was a little bit of a problem.
No one seemed to know who was supposed to be my server. Everyone was very pleasant to talk to and tried to be helpful, but there must have been some miscommunication between the staff as I sat for ten minutes before getting my order taken. Then when I went to pay after eating I had to wait again while they figured out who my server was (again) in order to pay. Not sure why that was necessary since I had the ticket that needed to be paid in my hand, but it happened. Food was good but might not be worth the hassle.
We stumbled upon this place because it was close to where our conference was being held. I ordered the 3 tenders plate with ranch, mac and cheese, and potato salad. I got a water, as well. Damien was our server, and he was very nice! The food came out after about 15 minutes, and I was very excited. The food itself was delicious! The chicken had a good amount of heat, which went well with the ranch. The potato salad was creamy and savory. The mac and cheese was flavorful. The food had my nose running and wanting a lot of water, so Damien helped me out with a refill. All in all, this was an amazing experience and the food was delicious!
What can be said about Gus? Excellent fried chicken? Of course. Is this better than your national chains? Indeed. Is is the best one I ever had? Probably not but I cannot remember a better one. The beans were excellent and the other fixin’s were good too. I am sure the mac ‘n’ cheese has its fans, but I am not one of them. Now the star of the show is the Sweet Potato pie. Holy sweet desert. That is the perfect Pie. Balanced. Have it w/o ice cream and ask for it to be heated. The smell is intoxicating. Whatever was on your mind is gone, and your body is shaking in anticipation. You will not be disappointed. The vibes are from a 70’s restaurant. To close, don’t miss Gus if you are around.
Flew in from the Bay Area and went straight to Gus’s after checking into the hotel! Good was great, and service was even better! Nikaya was kind and responsive to our requests and even gave us a small bowl of Mac and cheese to try after we mentioned it.
Great job Gus’s! Y’all just got two new customers for life!
Soooo good! The chicken was so crispy and juicy with the sides complementing the chicken. Service wasn’t too bad. Our waiters were busy with other tables and would frequently check on us when they were coming by with other orders.
I don’t know if it’s world famous but I can see that it’s probably pretty popular around these parts. There’s nothing like a good southern fried chicken with some greens, coleslaw and fried green tomatoes. Guess this is located in the lower level of a mall so you have to look for in a bit. If you’re in Atlanta, it’s definitely worth checking out.
I honestly don’t know how this food doesn’t have a 5/5 rating ; this is one of the best chicken I have eaten in my life; Also the fried green tomatoes and the sweet potatoes pie Is a must try; staff if friendly, the owner is the nicest man and you can tell he put some love in his food; we loved it so much that we bought a bucket to go on the plane the next day ahaha… don’t take my word for it , try it for yourself… fair warning : it’s spicy but just right
Okay so the first time I saw Gus’s I was walking past them to go to CVS and all I smelled was the fried chicken. That’s when I knew I had to go lol Finally got around to going and I went with a friend. The menu is what you would expect from like a chicken spot somewhere in the country but the food was amazing!! I’ll be honest the chicken was spicy to me and my friend but it was so good I really didn’t care. I had the 3wings meal with potato salad and greens. Greens were great! Potato salad was mid at best, I’m not a fan of potato peels in my potato salad but that’s just me. I’m pretty sure my friend got the 2 piece meal which was a breast and a wing with Mac&cheese and greens. He said the Mac & cheese tasted like Kraft and I told him it honestly looked like Stoffers lol full sized chicken, no baby portions and our food came out really fast. I gave you them 4 stars because almost every table except like 2 had no salt & pepper or ketchup. I had to get up and go look for it. We also got fried green tomatoes and they were amazing.
It took them a while to sit us down. The chicken was good, but too spicy and it well done inside. The location was great within the area we stayed at.
I was visiting from Oklahoma and was told I had to come have Gus's. The restaurant was small, clean, and comfortable. Waitress was friendly and fast, and you could tell she meant business.
I ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They must've come right out of the frier, which I very much appreciate, and I burnt my lip, so I pouted during my wait for them to cool off enough. Cornmeal batter was crispy and tasty. Tomato was fresh, and the ranch was homemade buttermilk.
For my meal, I got a thigh, drumstick, and a tender. Sides were beans and fries. Beans and fries were good, but they were beans and fries. One of my students ordered Mac & Cheese, and let me try it. It was pretty good and made in house. The chicken on the other was perfect!! Perfect crunch. Perfectly juicy. Perfect flavor. Perfect amount of heat in the batter.
If you are in Atlanta, I highly recommend grabbing Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken
