An Atlanta staple for more than 30 years, it’s among the best Mexican restaurants around, including anything you can find up and down Buford Hwy. Delicious home style cooking plus margaritas are hard to beat. We recommend the enchiladas but have tried many things from the menu that are absolutely excellent.
Foodie Friday Recap from 08/04/23 at @nuevo_laredo_cantina in the Howell Mill area of Atlanta. This place us great and always on our return list!!
Here is what we had:
Prickly Pear House Margarita
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This thing is strong, sweet and priced to have two or three. We absolutely love these!!
Queso Flameado ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is house in the style of more of a fondue. With fresh made tortillas, pico de gallo, and chorizo( extra but trust me well worth it) on the side.
Chimichanga ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Huge portions, well cooked, beans and rice on the side with fresh sliced avocado!!
Fish Tacos ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Char-grilled salmon!! So amazing, really haven't tasted another taco like this one. A nice slaw on top to add some crunch.
Overall this place is a local cheapie paradise with great food. If you know you know.... and now you know!! Run run run!!

Neuvo Laredo Cantina
Always slap!!
I come here at least once a month for the past 15 years.
Never any issues with service, quality of food , taste, consistency or anything.
Only complaint is PARKING cause who trying to play chicken trying to dash across the street to get to the restaurant!
Also sometimes ethers is a wait as the restaurant is kinda on the smaller side.
Seems to be a family business or atleast gives those vibes, I went around 4:30-5ish and by the time I left at 7 the place was packed. Main floor dining, then a downstairs with about 12_15 tables, kinda compact inside the place though. Overall it was cool
Simply top notch Mexican food. It’s located in a unique older building with charm. The chips and chunky salsa is full of flavor. The mole chicken enchiladas were delicious. The rice and refried beans were fresh and full of flavor.
The service at the bar was excellent. Easy parking at the restaurant and nearby.
The prices are extremely reasonable.
I am visiting from Germany and my friends have taken me to this mexican restaurant for lunch. The food is excellent and the service was great. If you want to have the real deal, go and check them out. Hope to come back soon again. Thank for a wonderful meal (#8)
This place was awesome! The seating is a little squish, but there’s so much history within the place that you honestly don’t even notice! I looked at all the picture frames and things hung up around the restaurant on the wall. :) the chips and salsa + queso was soo good! I also got a chicken burrito and it was fantastic! Definitely a cool little hidden gem!
My wife and I finally got a chance to stop here and have dinner. Overall, I would say we were not disappointed. We are both native Angeleno‘s and are hypocritical of Mexican food. The food was very good. A nice variety of vegetarian choices. And excellent rice and beans, which for some reason seem to not be considered a necessity at a lot of other Mexican restaurants we’ve tried in the south. The margaritas were decent, but not great. The flavor was good, but they could’ve been stronger, in my opinion. We definitely will be returning.
Unexpected mouth watering infectious and dad-blasted amazing. The tamales were wrapped tightly and still smoldering in the husks. That chicken taco salad was definitely a reason to return. Enchiladas prepared to perfection. I was always told to judge a good Mexican restaurant by their enchiladas😋😋
I ordered the chicken soup and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were so rich and savory, it was definitely worth the visit. Despite being a busy spot, the service was still great. It's not a fancy place by any means, just a small hole in the wall. The parking lot is quite small and sometimes you may have to cross the street to get there, but it's definitely worth it. They were pretty busy when I went, so I would highly recommend giving it a try!
