First trip to Annapolis in December we found this place. We are here everyday we were here. The place is full of history. It has a great happy hour. The food is good, the place is clean, and the staff is friendly.
Just came back to Annapolis and we have already been here twice. I've had the oyster shooters, crab tater tots, and steamed mussels. My son has had the old bay wings and the buffalo wings. Everything has been delicious. We will be back again before we leave. If you are in the area you must stop here!
Aw man, this place is cool. The interior is beautiful. Only stopped in for a few drinks, but will definitely be back since I don't live too far away. I believe the story goes that this is the oldest continuously operating bar in Maryland and third oldest in the country (opened in 1750). Walking in is a bit like stepping back in time. Imagine the folks that popped in during the fight for our independence and birth of our country. Truly amazing. That aside, they have a piano bar upstairs, and a big beautiful bar downstairs with a decent draft beer selection and far more in cans/bottles. Our bartender was lovely - though I forgot her name as I tend to do. Definitely recommend stopping in! I'll be back to check out the piano bar - which wasn't open when we visited.
Sitting here in the breezes on their deck having a Middleton's Mule and crab cakes. Awesome food and great service. Kim (my server) was outstanding. Great suggestions. I come here everytime I'm visiting Annapolis. The history of this place makes it a "must see".
Great spot for drinks with a ton of history!
A must stop when in town, but i would recommend drinks that are beer, on the rocks, or bottled… probably better spots for mixed cocktails.
First of all, go for the history ... this place is a throwback in time. It was established in 1750 and famous Colonial Americans such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were among some of its most prominent patrons! Very cool!
It has a great location, right in the heart of the Annapolis. A tip: parking is usually an issue in downtown Annapolis, so if you want to go there, try to go during the weekday and get there around 3:00 p.m. This coincides with Happy Hour. Be aware that the HH menu online is outdated and does not match the HH menu in the restaurant (management take note).
Our very friendly server was Omar. By any chance if you order a dessert, try the Creme Brûlée, it was very good! Nice HH with a decent draft beer selection and wine!
The food was great, the oysters were perfect and our salads were really good. The service was a little slow but everything was crazy due to the perfect weather so I think they were a little busier than usual for this time of year. We would definitely go back.
Wow what an experience at the tavern est. 1750. The food was delicious, the location and ambience spectacular and Maddie's service awesome! When in Annapolis This was 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
