Love it!. Best cafe/bagel shop I've been to in Albany. I love their many options. Had a turkey and pesto sandwich yesterday and it was delicious. Also had a Caesar salad with bacon and cucumber which was great! The chicken in the chicken salad is a little disappointing and they run out of everything bagels pretty often. The bagels are a little tough but I think that is what people expect here in NY. I enjoy going there and am always trying new things.
OUTSTANDING FOOD & SERVICE. I highly recommend the food, soup, and coffee and will return here as often as I can. I had the chipotle sweet potato soup, pumpernickel bagel and the Timor organic coffee ... as a result I simply HAD to purchase a pound of the Timor coffee to take home! Thank you Mike for your brilliant coffee suggestion on a BOLD, SMOOTH coffee to try! You totally nailed it buddy!
Great little place. I live near here for years but never went in and wish I had earlier. The chicken salad is so delicious and there is so much fresh toppings for you to pick to go on your bagel...which is my ONLY complaint is that i wish they offered more than a bagel (wraps/sandwhiches etc)
This Barista takes your breath away. A quick big THANK YOU to the perky young lady barista who seemed like she was on her 30th cup of coffee when she offered to help me and answered my questions about specific brews and suggested and fully described other coffees that were more closely aligned with what I described I liked and was excited with my interest in a bean that she had just happened to have French pressed in her own French press that she brings to work because she loves her job so much and from which she offered me a sample while it was siting on a table with two other customers who seemed surprised as she poured my sample and then asked me what I thought of it (me making the sound of taking a deep breath)!

Best coffee shop in the area. The staff are friendly. They don't chisel their customers. Their coffee is great. Their soups, bagels, and bar cookies are good. Don't touch their muffins unless you have a severe sugar deficiency.
Wonderful Bagels, Great Coffee. This spot has plenty of choices, and nearly all of them are great! You can load up a delicious, fresh bagel with spreads, veggies, and meats to make it your way, and wash it down with one of many different coffee options! They also let you sample the coffees if you aren't sure about what you want! A local favorite for a reason.
I have such fond memories here. This is an authentic coffee shop and one of my favorite places to sit with friends and chat, growing up in Albany. The coffee is the best. Fair prices too. The bagels are huge and delicious. I drop by everytime I'm back home.

Great coffee, bagels and atmosphere. I would have never considered myself a coffee snob but the past few years of drinking the coffee at Uncommon Grounds have definitely made me rethink my definition of what passes for a decent cup. Most places have a single type and you throw some sugar and cream into it and go about your day. But the variety and freshness at Uncommon Grounds make so much of a difference I can't see myself going back to a can of freeze dried Folgers if there are other options. I'll admit, I still drink the occasional Dunkin Donuts cup and while it's good for the price it doesn't compare to a cup of fresh Mexican or Peruvian organic. They roast all of the bean in store, there are at least 15 different types (not including flavored or dark roasts) and rotate what they have on so each day it's a nice surprise to see what's been brewed.
On the bagel front they make everything in store and when you get a hot bagel they're good enough to eat without anything on them. Unlike some other store in the area that sell something the size of a hockey puck, these bagels are gigantic and if you get a sandwich you will not be hungry when you're done.
The store gets busy and crowded during the days and if you're in town when the local colleges are doing midterms/finals you'll be hard pressed to find a table at night but most nights there's ample room to sit and relax and enjoy your food and coffee. The staff has always been really helpful and friendly and I've never had a problem asking for a table to we wiped down or my coffee to be refilled.
I've been going to Uncommon Grounds for the last three years and don't see myself going anywhere else if I'm in the area. If you're in Albany and looking for a great cup of coffee or bagel make sure to check this place out.
