Cuckoo Rooster

I just saw that it reopened on Instagram. Stopped by to see if it’s good and it definitely was. You start your order on a machine & they’ll call your name when it’s ready. I tried a two piece Lemon pepper & Garlic with a one piece a La carte hot. They all tasted great, great quality chicken & breading wasn’t that bad. Their ranch and Cuckoo sauce was a great addition to the meal. The hot level wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be but it was still good and flavorful. The lemon pepper was also good but I think I liked the garlic the most. I’d definitely come back and it’s one of the only Hot fried chicken places with lots of other flavors.

Amazing hot chicken. When conversing with the other well known foodie expert locals; Cuckoo Rooster anonymously comes into the conversation for their great fried chicken. Slightly disappointed they changed up the menu. Cuckoo fries are a must and hope they bring it back on the menu!

Please know they are only taking online orders for pick up. An enormous and delicious fried chicken sandwich and rosemary fries make for a delightful meal at home, cause you can't eat there. I had never intended to move to Agoura Hills, but sometimes all the planning in the world is brushed aside by the will of circumstance. I'm grateful that there is at least one great hot chicken place in town, having left behind my beloved Dave's Hot Chicken and Howlin' Ray's. This unassuming closet sized restaurant in a strip mall wouldn't seem to be a competitor to those titans of the Nashville hot chicken trend, but looks can and will be deceiving. The chicken is made with care and the portions are enormous. But the stars of the shop, in my opinion are the Cuckoo Fries which they do a horrible job of promoting and edifying on their website. They come in a variety of flavors, Rosemary, Lemon Pepper, Garlic, all delicious. Come for the chicken, stay for the fries. Parking is super easy and convenient. Plus, they're right next to a supermarket, so you can buy add ons, soda and desserts there, if that's your thing.
