We stumbled upon The Wood Shack while waiting in an hour wait line for Mexican food around the corner. Chris, the owner, welcomed us instantly when he found me oddly wondering around his patio looking for where the incredible smoked meat smell was coming from...
Highly recommend the Mac n’ Cheese Boat w/ pulled pork. Also during your visit, beg Chris & Hope to permanently serve their Chips & Salsa. The smokey/ fresh salsa is SUPERB. I cannot stress enough how awesome this place is. Do yourself a favor and check it out ASAP.
We've been here 4 times now. We've tried 4 different sandwiches and every single one of them has been delicious. The flavor of every meat we've had is so good. Always great specials and wonderful creations on the regular menu. Some awesome sweets too (gooey butter cookie sandwich with peach ice cream to a chocolate caramel gooey butter cake with chantilly whipped cream). This one is very quickly becoming a favorite sandwich spot of ours.
Great music, food and service in an unsuspecting little shack in the corner in the Soulard neighborhood. They even have vegetarian options of the menu. The vegan wrap was everything. On the contrary I do not recommend the mac and cheese. The flavor is bland and the sauce was watery. It was more like a soup. The recipe should be tweaked for vetter flavor notes and consistency that will improve the overall dish. Other diners ordered sandwiches with fries and they loved them.

I showed up here on a Sunday evening and was immediately greeted by the owner, Steve. He has a nice laid back and inviting vibe to him that will make you feel welcomed.
I sat out on their dog friendly patio which was filled with plants and very nicely shaded. The server brought over water for my dog and made some great recommendations.
The inside has a fun easy going cozy feel to it. There's a nook off to the side of the bar that makes me feel like I'm in someone's house having a cocktail.
🤤Now let's talk about the food. I'm so happy I randomly found this place. It's probably the best sandwich I've ever had in STL. I got the, "Soulard Primer" it's a mix of distinguishable flavors that pair nicely together. The red beans and rice was insatiable, very hearty and flavorful, with bits of meat to really enhance the flavor. I'd suggest dipping the sandwich in the beans at least once.
I'm a sucker for a mojito and the special happened to be a blackberry mojito. The blackberries, and there were a lot of them, were finely muddled and the mint was fresh. I didn't ask what rum they used, but it was smooth and refreshing.
In the end my bill was pretty reasonable. They charge for the sides separately, but they're very large sides. I had a lovely experience this evening and plan on coming back. The staff was friendly, the food was immaculate, and the patio was beautiful. If you go in the evening it's covered in shade which really cools it off.
Food is fantastic and the new location is very cute. Highly recommend the Delgado. Giant shrimp (not the tiny breaded ones you usually get), amazing sauce and the bread is perfect. Also got the poutine tater tots with hugs chunks of melty chese and a delicious au jus. Patio is very nice and pip really enjoyed her snack. Also got a elderflower 75 which was so good.

Me and my bestie went here on a whim wanting to try something new . Food is top notch definitely recommend the steak salad or the gobagool sandwich. The drinks are so good !!! And celeise the bar manager is so sweet! She gave us great recommendations and she made our drinks perfectly! Fav new bar !
I can safely say, if you like a good sandwich with delicious smoked meats, this is the place for you. The staff was very nice. Loved the decor, and the music selection was on point! Also, the music was not too loud to enjoy conversation at the table.
We came in on a Sunday night. It was a large group and they served us right away. I had their blackberry mojito and it was delicious. Food was also good, at first glance the sandwich looked small, but I didn’t even finish it! Packed a lot of great taste, and will definitely come back to check out the patio and try their mac and cheese!
I can not stop talking about, The Wood Shack! This place has most the amazing foods, they really put their foot in it! The owner is the essence of the place he showed us how much he cares about his customer's happiness and the sweet server didn't make us wait for anything and was always at arms reach.. it was not a busy night so if you have to wait for anything the food is worth it!
We can not wait to go back again!

Ive been eating eating and ordering from woodshack for years now and it has yet to dissapoint me. The primer with extra bone marrow aioli and the pastrami reuben are my favorite orders.
Edit: new location, same great food, with some additions too. The tacos were fantastic and the corned beef was as great as I remembered, juicy, flavorful, distinctive. The upstairs has a great view and the patio is cute.
In STL for business and was looking for a good local spot to grab lunch and stopped in here. Fantastic food, friendly bubbly service that made me feel welcomed and fair prices. I got the pressed French dip and Cajun style fries and it was amazing. I definitely will be back by this hidden gem! 10/10
What a great place! Food was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. I heard they were moving to a bigger spot soon, and it sounds like a really cool spot. I can't wait to go back and get the Soulard Primer again.
