Upon arriving to the restaurant, I was greeted as soon as I stepped into the door. We were able to sit at any open table. Now, con was they were out of the first two items that I wanted to try the Cod and crab cake. However, the bar.b.quban was my third runner up, and it was very satisfying. I am not typically a pork fan, but it is a Cuban restaurant, so I tried it. It was delicious, juicy, and flavorful. I also had the empadilla's not disappointed. This was a nice little spot that made my day. If in Richmond I would return. I enjoyed it maybe you will too.
This place is spectacular! Incredible food, friendly service, and the portions are MASSIVE. The food is way fancier (ie seasoned, complex, etc) than in the parts of Cuba I’ve been to, so I’d rather eat here than on the island itself. Definitely one of the most unique and worthwhile places to visit in Richmond. The ambiance is also excellent - a former diner turned into a unique and eclectic place. In that regard, Kuba Kuba definitely carries the spirit of contemporary Havana.
Great Cuban food, large portions, fun atmosphere. Understaffed, so service is slow, but pleasant. Be patient, the food is worth the wait. Ate there for dinner and for breakfast. Generous portions, so be prepared to take food home!
Laid back neighborhood atmosphere with seriously delicious and filling Cuban food (with vegetarian options!). I got the paella for dinner and leftovers lasted for two extra meals. The breakfast and lunch/sandwich options also looked delicious - will definitely be back!
Kuba Kuba gave a vibe of neighborhood favorites with lots of history plastered all over the restaurant. Went there with high expectation since I was recommended by someone who lived around. Lunch hour on weekday wasn’t too busy but everyone seemed pretty occupied so had to wait couple of minutes just to be greeted. Paella Valeciana is definitely not the dish I would order again. Seafood in there was not fresh at all. Had an upset stomach throughout my entire trip home.
Would visit again just for the vibe and maybe try other items apart from seafood.
Fantastic restaurant! I came here on a Saturday night, and there was no wait. They don't take reservations, so it's first come, first served.
I ordered a Sloppy José, which is a hot sandwich with ropa vieja and swiss cheese inside. It is also served with fried plantains, which were delicious! The key lime pie I ordered was also very good! The portions are huge, so be prepared to take a box back or split the dish with someone.
A unique, small place with tons of character and AMAZING food. Huge menu with something for everyone. Got the main pork dish and one of the best meals I’ve had.
Amazing authentic Cuban food in a super cool atmosphere. Cuban coffee was alao excellent.
Delicious Cuban spot right in Richmond downtown.
Their fried plantains are amazing! Cuban sandwich is delicious. Huge and super tasty plates. Friendly and helpful servers.
They are pretty busy at lunch, so sometimes might be hard to get a table. We arrived right before the rush lunch time.
The only thing I didn't like is that after we got our food, the servers didn't pay any more attention to us.. they were busy with other tables. It took us a while to get our check. But I get it, not enough employees.
Apart from that, overall good food and good place. Would definitely come back
This place was very busy but they got us in quickly. The food portions were generous and the flavors were unlike anything I've had before. The one bathroom was always busy and the booth I sat in appeared loose as the people behind me seemed to shake and bump me the entire time we were there.
