Sub-stancial Gain. Well, I may have finally found the Meatball Sub that I had been hopelessly searching for. House Made Meatballs and Marinara? Check. Delicious, Crunchy/Soft Roll that doesnt split in half under the weigh of the Meatballs or the ooze of the Marinara? Check. Provole laid on thick and gooey? You bet your ass.
This was a terrific Meatball Sub, with the Roll particularly, coming in miles ahead of others Ive had in Portland. While this is part of a local chain you would never guess it. As this place screams Mom and Pop from top to bottom. It did feel like a sauna in there, we ended up getting our lunches to go. But thats the only negative thing I have to say. I no longer need to look for an excuse to go downtown, as I now have a reason. And a hell of a good one at that
Grade: A (if only you were on the east side)
What's going on here!!!!. I can't believe this place has so few votes! I went in for the Italian sub, it is hands down the B e s t sandwich I've had in my entire 26 years of life. And I have been to Paseo and countless other sandwich places across the USA. The service was really good, they weren't busy when we went in and it was so so so good. I don't live in Portland, I haven't been there in awhile but I think about Geraldi's Italian Sub every week... multiple times a week. It's love.
It's really hard to top the Spicy Geraldi. Such a great sub!! Homemade meatballs are very good too.
Friendly & lots of food. Went to Geraldi's for the first time today and was immediately impressed with how nice the staff is. Got a lasagna with homemade meatballs and some garlic bread. Big portions, especially the garlic bread - it is easily 7 inches of buttery, garlicky baguette. Lasagna is old-school, just cheese and sauce. Probably going to have to share the garlic bread, because I can't eat all this myself. Yummy!
Always get the Torpedo and every time I love it! Great people here.
This has to be one of the best Italian food restaurants in the state. Subs are to die for pizza 🍕 delicious, and the sides forget about It!! I ordered the Full Spicy Geraldi with no tomatoes and a healthy side of potato salad.. High-quality ingredients and good pricing for the portions..10/10
Great food and fast service with fantastic bread! My only criticism might be that the interior is pretty cozy (but people seem to move through pretty quickly). Atmosphere was just a little awkward and hard to put my finger on why or what exactly. Good food and friendly staff with several drink options. I will certainly come grab a sandwich again. They are HUGE! COME HUNGRY! I might even try a pizza!
Visited for the first time today. Was greeted with a smile and introduced to the menu. My food was fast, fresh, and hot. Ordered the Chicago Beef. My wife got the spaghetti. Overall we were super happy and will definitely be going back.
Really delicious and filling sandwiches! Each of us ordered half a sandwich (huge!) and most didn’t finish in one sitting. We all loved what we tried - turkey pesto, meatball, and Chicago beef sandwiches.
First time coming here and was impressed with the food. I took to go as I was staying at the Best Western pretty much next door. I will definitely try again next time in the area! 😋🥰
This place was suggested to me when I was on site for my job. I needed a quick place to grab lunch, and I was not disappointed. It's a small shop with a decent parking situation. I went in and there was already a full table. When mentioned it was my first time there and asked what I should get and the lasagna was suggested. That was heavier food than I wanted at lunch so was given the 2nd suggestion of the meatball sub, which I got (whole). The food came out quickly and was heavenly! The meatballs were so flavorful and tender and the sauce was good (on the sweater side). The cheese was meltey and delicious. My only regret was not getting the lasagna because if the meatball sub was this good the lasagna must be dynomite. If you are in the area I definitely recommend giving this little place a try. I think it will be worth your time.
Great sandwiches and pizza cozy atmosphere the smell is terrific when you walk in
Everyone was so friendly! I could tell I entered a lovely community who had this restaurant as its hub. I felt so welcome! The Spicy Geraldi was so flavorful too!
Ate here today for the first time in probably 15+ years, couldn't remember if it was good or not so I decided to stop by and find out lol. It was great! Got the Chicago beef with Italian sausage and a drink. The sandwich was great, and very filling. Definitely enough to share between two people, or make two meals out of. I ended up paying a touch under $18 with the sandwich being $14.95 of that. The price left me pleasantly surprised, as I've found out that many Italian delis have what I consider to be unreasonable prices. The restaurant itself is small, but quite clean and had a good atmosphere. I was there for less than half an hour and saw the tables get wiped down at least twice. I didn't get the name of the employee who helped me at the front counter unfortunately, however she was very nice and quick with her service with me and everyone else who came in during my time there.
Overall, I'd say Geraldi's is a restaurant well worth your time.
They start with quality ingredients. Piles of beef and Italian sausage that reminds me of what Old Spaghetti Factory serves.
The bread is great, too.
The wait staff is helpful and courteous.
I ate there once when I was booked into a nearby Best Western and when I had to be in Portland again I fought the traffic well out of my way to go back again.
