A very rare and solid five stars. Also well deserved. I love sushi but have never loved it like this. Ignorance is bliss, and if you love sushi and want to be satisfied with what you think is good, stay away from this place. But if you want to know what real sushi is on another level, do whatever you can to check out 22 Kialua. Almost life changing. I've never really liked uni, but theirs was delightful. It was also pleasant to look at. Something usually not enjoyed. Every aspect of this place is amazing. Six stars across the board if I could. Each offering was delicious, flavorful and amazing. Each had its own unique care and delivery that shows the masterful art that is delivered with every piece. I will return, but until then, I will not find sushi on this level.
Poke bowl for lunch was absolutely delicious! Salmon tossed in the spicy mayo sauce was my favourite but the tuna was also incredibly fresh. Very quaint interior and the food is artfully prepared right in front of you.
Amazing place. Come at lunch for the poke bowls. Best poke bowl I’ve ever had (regular Ahi bowl on green salad and with the “punch” flavor)
Excellent Omakase right in Kailua town! We are still wondering how we had never heard about this place before. Food was excellent, they offer 3 tiers $100/$150/$200 per person. Fish was amazing, variety was excellent. It’s byob so we brought a bottle of sake we got from the Sake Shop in Kaka’ako.
This was more than just wonderful food this was an experience. The care taken in not just building a beautiful atmosphere but to each dish being made. The complexity in the flavor profiles were just perfection. The rice perfectly cooked and seasoned. The show of each part of the bowl artfully crafted in front of you while you sit in a peaceful small venue with soft and inviting Japanese music playing. I have nothing but praise.
Wow- go with an empty stomach and enjoy traditional omakase in an intimate and cozy setting. I think this place seats ten at the most. So much food and such amazing quality! BYOB I suggest sake or Asian beer. Not a rolls place, this is for serious sushi lovers.
Nice friendly place to pick up a poke bowl for lunch in Kailua. Poke is prepared from scratch when ordered and the rice is cooked perfectly. The Wasabi Poke is nice and mild (not overly salty as prepared at some places). Overall a very pleasant meal.
I reserved one star, hoping maybe 22 Kailua will expand their lunch takeout menu. Maybe bentos or some other Japanese delights? :)
Googled and found this place while traveling in the area.. never had poke before and this place delivered! 100% worth it!

Here is my dilemma...we want this place to be successful, but that would make it difficult to secure a coveted seat at this charming "secret" gem. Dinner is by reservation only, and it is omakase. Menus start at $80 per person. It is a mixture of nigiri sushi, and various other bites, artfully prepared right before your eyes by chef Taka. The menu varies, he only buys top quality ingredients. Everything is delicious and umami-ful, with no need for additional seasoning. It's a fun, intimate, and delightful experience. And its byob.
Amazing hole in the wall poke place!! Very authentic and fun quiet spot! You dont want to miss
