The general quality and quantity of the food here is fantastic. Authentic. And the service was fabulous. One of my favorite things about Korean food is all the little side dishes that you get with the meal. Consider that in the pricing and be open to trying new things. We have a number of friends who are chefs and this is one of their top places to go for special occasions.
For the life of me I have no idea why we haven’t been here before now. It is located in a strip mall just west of Post Road. Unless you are actually looking for it you would more than likely not even notice it. That would be a shame because this is definitely a place worthy of notice. Pat forgot to mention the soup he got as a first course.
Large portions. Great side dishes with your meal. I adore the spicy chicken wings. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the seaweed roll. We came, we conquore, and demolished. Loved the bembap! Friendly service.
So, the food is really good. I really do like this place. My one issue is that my boyfriend and I are not Korean so they don't let us order certain dishes. Very frustrating. They refused to let my boyfriend order Ganjang Gejang so I actually had to make it for him at home (Thank you, Maangchi!). I'm Asian but I guess they can tell I'm not Korean. Haha. Anyway, if they would just let us order their freaking dishes without second guessing our palates, it would be 5 points all the way.
The best soup in town. Fortunately, Mamas isn't near where I live, or I'd be there every day.
All the menu items I've tried so far have been excellent, AND they'll give you all the (really tasty) kim chi you want. I believe their kim chi is imported from Korea, as it puts grocery store kim chi to shame.
Try the #11 soup (whose exact name won't come to mind at the moment); it's both flavorful and HOT. As a matter of fact, it's bowel-searingly hot, but they'll make it spicier if you ask!
Please give Mama's a try; you won't regret it.
Oh so good. Mama's House has been one of my favorites for years. I have yet to have a bad meal here. Everything I've tried has been tasty and full of flavor. (although I have had meals I wasn't expecting. I've been trying Korean food by the trial and error method...pick something off the menu... whether I know what it is or not. I've found some wonderful dishes this way)
Favorites so far; Bi-bim bap (all variations),Chop chae, Bulgogi (a must with the lettuce wrap), Kimchee soup, all their sauté's, the Kahl-bee (love them ribs), the beef bone soup, the buckwheat noodle dishes, the tempura dishes, and the endless variety of stews....which are great on cold winter days.
Don't forget the Banchan (side dishes). They give you a lot...with every meal, and they're all so good.
Love this place. It's one of top most interesting meals in town. 12 different types of kimchi served at dinner. Authentic. My top 10 list.
Love this wonderful, inexpensive Korean restaurant! Best bulgogi and bi bim bap in Naptown! Fast service with great lunch specials. Highly recommend!
Awesome. This place serves up some awesome food at a great price! A buddy and I got the beef bulgogi. what we were not expecting was all the condiments of dried fishes and kimchees that amounted to another meal on top of the won we were already being served! I would highly recommend giving this place a try.
Good service, diner style setting, food was great. For starters the scallion fried egg pan cakes were awsome. We had the momas house special, steak an rib tip dinner with all the sides including kimshi. I love cooking, an this is a place where you cook your own meat of choice. If you get the special then you'll have plenty of tasty sides. Can't remember the name of the beer but it was Koreans best brew, just ask for it. I had plenty of it, will be back for the other tempting choices on the menu. If you can't cook, your server is more then willing to do it for you an show you their traditional way of eating it. A great idea with a unique style pickled dishes, if you love the grill you'll like momas house.
Love going here for lunch. Cheap quick and always delicious. Highly recommend the Chicken Sauté. I’ve been here once for the bbq and wouldn’t recommend that.
We tried this lovely food and we got the mamas bbq! The flavor of the meat was good but why makes the difference is the sides ether have some many options and they give you more if needed we honestly didn’t ask for more we were 3 and also order a soup and we were so full so we just tried a little bit but was ok 🤗!! People on the restaurant doesn’t look that friendly but don’t get scared the service was good and they are friendly in their on way!
One of the best Authentic Korean Restaurant in town. There are a lot more varieties to choose from the menu booklet, Lol. Try the BBQ spot. You can grill your own meat in middle of the table. Seafood was really good and colorful. Try the Korean sake - smooth and well brewed. Well served with attention. Definitely a must try if you are in town or passing by. Over priced and tip is included in bill by themselves. But it’s okay to pay for the Authenticity.
Honestly, dont mess with bbq, the amazing food from the kitchen is *chefs kisses* their portions are giant and the kimchis, are amazing. Loved all of it. Service was wonderful and the manager is super present on the floor and was so hands on. I was really impressed how comforting and warm it was. I snagged to go kimchis too. It was soooo good.
very comfortable setting. service a little slow but never went without. everyone was very kind. i've had korean food all over the midwest and this is the best ive had in a restaurant. the tteokbokki sauce was perfect and tasted homemade. all of the food was piping hot, fresh, and came out quickly. the dumplings were juicy. the bulgogi lunch was enough to leave me extra full. will be coming again.
Absolutely fantastic, service was great and so was the food. My wife and I had a sampler meal for 2 and took home left overs that was enough for a 3rd meal. The amount of sides blew my mind and we blth left full and satisfied. The staff were great considering this was our first time doing Korean BBQ and tried to show us how it was done. It was not overly spicy so do not worry about that.
Awesome experience, when you get there say you want the BBQ not the regular dine in. This way you can sit at a grill table and they bring you all the food and it cooks right in front of you!
Service was great. Had a really good time and I would highly recommend!
Always perfect! It's so weird to find this place nestled on pendleton pike, honestly. I'm glad it is though. The service is great. If sides are your thing the Koreans are the Kings of it, I swear. The service is always friendly and the food is always great. The prices can be a little high, especially with the BBQ tables. Worth it to treat yourself though. I can't lie. I almost always get the Bebeem Bop (not the stone bowl version). It's great every time, and even better when you throw some sides in there too.
Great, fast service and yummy food. It was a bit expensive, but my entrée came with 11 sides, and you're able to get refills on two of them. I got the beef bulgogi. My leftovers are enough for a second meal.
One negative, thankfully it was only playing softly, but the music was like 90s metal. I heard Black Hole Sun, which was fine, but there was also one that the whole thing was yelling/screaming... just seemed like an odd pairing for a Korean meal. :)
Authentic Korean restaurant. I would say they have decent lunch prices so it’s better to try it during that time. They serve plenty of pickled side dishes as well.
